Prognositcating the Biology and Politics of the Fall
Morgan Stanley, not exactly a Marxist organization, currently estimates the Arnot for Covid-19 in the United States at 1.1, meaning each American with Covid-19 infects (on average) 1.1 Americans. If that rate of infection holds steady over the Summer, by the time the Republicans have their convention there could be over 200,000 dead from Covid-19. A Harvard Global Health Institute study concurs.
Today Trump announced plans to have massive rallies in starting in Tulsa on June 19th, with stops in Florida, Arizona and North Carolina.
Keep in mind that we are at the beginning of the Memorial Day bump, and we have the Fourth of July coming up, as well as re-openings.
Think of a Convention with no social distancing with thousands of attendees not wearing a mask because 'it sends the wrong message'. So no social distancing in the middle of a Pandemic in Jacksonville at the beginning of hurricane season. What could possibly go wrong?

Florida is already spiking up new cases again. Arizona has asked hospitals to activate emergency plans. North Carolina just broke a record on hospitalizations.MeDotOrg wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 6:12 am

Some encouraging news: Two Missouri hairstylists who had coronavirus saw 140 clients but no one got infected
These stylists were very scrupulous about wearing masks and requiring their clients to do likewise while practicing recommended social distancing. They also scrupulously kept a client list for contact tracing, in case anyone came down with the virus. None of the 46 clients chosen to be tested were positive, and none of the remainder of the 140 clients potentially at risk showed symptoms after self quarantining for 14 days. This raises hope that we can open things up a bit and get relatively safely through this crisis, if people are responsible enough to take the recommended guidelines seriously.

No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Well, when rally-going Trump supporters start watching their grandparents die, they will always have the recourse of calling granny a leftist who's in on the hoax to take Trump down.
Generally I haven't liked being around Trump supporters because of the smell. Soon we'll have pools of virus to worry about as well.

To be fair, I imagine that few in the Trump administration was aware of the historical symbolism of have a rally in Tulsa on June 19th.
Juneteenth celebrates June 19th, 1865. That was the day the Emancipation Proclamation was read to the slaves of Texas. It was the last Southern State where the Proclamation was announced.
Tulsa, Oklahoma was home to the largest White race riot in American history. On May 31st and June 1st 1919, a 35-block area was attacked by White Vigilantes, some of them deputized. The Red Cross estimated over 1,200 homes were torched, and over 200 businesses and homes were looted.
For years there was a concerted effort to cover up what had happened.
I'll be curious to see if the President mentions The Tulsa Race Massacre or Juneteenth in his appearance.

Worse than that will be the new mosquito virus in the NE:

From the link above:
“EEE is spread when an infected mosquito bites a person — but even then, transmission is rare. About 95% of people bitten by an EEE-infected mosquito won’t get sick. What’s more, the disease is not spread directly from person to person. And it’s believed that once someone recovers from EEE, they have life-long immunity against reinfection. But the consequences for the 4% to 5% of people who do get sick from a bite are severe. They can suffer lifelong brain damage or even death if the infection impacts their brain or spinal cord.”
Most at risk is above 50 and below 15. “The CDC recommends using insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535 or oil of lemon eucalyptus on exposed skin and/or clothing.”

I think most Republicans can fully support Trump in his No Lives Matter movement.
