On my Facebook page, I gently but persistently correct. But I must be pretty well siloed because I see very little of it.

My feedback: You can have opinions, or you can have friends. Which is more important to you?
I completely sympathize with Jersey Girl here. I am finding Temp Admin comment incomprehensible. It appears dark to me in a way I seldom encounter here and there have been some weird things posted from time to time.
Hold on, I am starting to get a clue, perhaps it means," Spock, lobotomize me now!" Or maybe just , "Scotty beam me up."
I just correct the misinformation matter of factly. I have yet to have anyone lose their crap on me. Then again other than one group I belong to, my two kids, and my wife I don’t see much traffic because I’ve unfollowed everyone - too many food/Jesus/pet posts for my tastes.

I've corrected matter of factly in 2 cases with the same person. They didn't lose their crap.
They deleted the entire thread. Whatever.

I am extra gentle when correcting someone else's post. I am more firm when someone replies to one of my posts with misinformation. If they persist, I get less gentle. After correcting someone for about the fifth time in one discussion that started with my post, I firmly explained my view that posting misinformation to my page is rude and if they won't stop, I will block them. Never had to block anyone yet. But my approach differs, depending on who started the discussion.

Maybe I should show you the opening line of the post again.
a friend or relative say stupid s-hit about the current social/civil unrest on Facebook? I'll give examples.
They'll still be your friends or relatives. They simply won't be your friends on Facebook.
