The success of this country, which is probably on Trump's list of "Sh--hole countries" is both admirable and heartening. They wasted no time taking immediate action to limit travel from China, just across the border from them, identifying, isolating and quarantining victims of the virus. Near the beginning they took care of those seriously ill. Their most serious case, who nearly died, was a British airline pilot who happened to be in the country at the time. The whole nation rallied around him when he was hospitalized, just as if he was one of their own, and spent $200,000 on his care. At one point they feared his lungs would fail him, and more than 50 Vietnamese volunteered to donate a lung to save him, if necessary! Fortunately, he managed to make a near full recovery without that donation, and neither he nor any Vietnamese died in the country, though there were other very serious cases. Vietnam has had only 370 confirmed covid-19 cases, 350 of whom are fully recovered, with 0 fatalities.Vietnam is among a handful of countries to have reported no fatalities from the coronavirus pandemic.
