That's pretty much what I thought and hoped you would say. One of the top reasons I like and respect you so much is because of that very attitude. As I have often said, the world would be a much better place if more Christians were like you.
Yeah, it's important to note that if more Christians were like Jersey Girl, I'd have a lot less to say about Christians.

Huh? Do you think that I think Christians are the only people in the world who can do good for others? Just for the record, I believe that God created us all with inherent gifts and the ability to serve humanity whether we believe He exists or not. None of us were born believing in God.

That's a fact in my spiritual world, jack.

Paul had the ability to speak to and influence both Jew and Gentile, did he not? So did Carlin have the ability to access all sectors of society. He, in fact, still does. There's nothing quite like a person who can cut through the s-hit and tell it like it really is.

Was that a test?!?!?!? :surprised: Test me any time you want and I'll tell you just exactly what I think about any given thing as it relates to my faith and why I think it. I don't go around splashing my posts with God-thoughts because I think I'm supposed to wait until someone sort of asks about it or I think I should represent it here to give an alternative point of view for consideration. I don't expect to make sense to everyone here. Not everyone makes sense to me either. So what.

I mean it when I say that I believe everyone is born with a gift. Everyone.

I think there's a ton of people like me who don't judge people based on what God they do/do not believe in. When I go to the doctor I don't give them a faith interview, you know.

Carlin spoke the truth and he didn't mince words. His delivery was straight up and to the point, in language that any person could understand. That he also had the ability to make you laugh was the icing on the cake. He wasn't a comedian, he was a social commentator that coincidentally could make you laugh your butt off.

I don't like it when you say that because I am certainly no example of anything. I think there are a plethora of people like me whose experience it was that the further away they got from organized religion, the closer they got to their God. I'm not even close to joking here.

It's funny because Gunnar "met" me when I was still weekly attending a Southern Baptist Church. I often wonder if he thinks I've changed much since then. I tend to think that I haven't changed much but have become more of who I already was to start with. There's too much distracting extraneous stuff going on in churches these days for my liking. The Bible says we're supposed to be in the world but not of it. So what are Christians doing creating micro-societies in Mega Churches with coffee bars, expensive sound systems and performances?

WTH? I don't like that stuff because shouldn't we be IN the world doing stuff like contributing to it? You know, pitching in with what we've got to offer?

Says some Jersey hypocrite who is safer at home and not really going anywhere these days.

Gunnar, in your view, have I changed much since you met me all those years ago? I do know one thing that has changed. Before Trump I bet you never saw me giving a damn about politics!

Who is your preferred choice again?
The person who would be the best for the county should something happen to Biden: Pete Buttigieg.

But he's locked himself into choosing a female running mate.

Put a wig on Pete. Biden made this choice for political strategy, but Buttigieg would still be the best. Biden like Trump is an old man and thus a good successor needs to be considered as an important factor.

Even so, anyone Biden picked would have to be better than Trump.

What about Susan Rice? I was watching her today on a replay of her The View segment.

I think we have both changed. I think we are both more knowledgeable than when we first encountered each other, for one thing. As for politics, though I was somewhat concerned about it before, I think that, like you, I'm more concerned about it now. It also seems to me that your views lean more towards the liberal side than they used to, and that you are more inclined to honestly consider the merits of views other than your own, especially when they are well thought out and articulated. In truth, though, I'm not sure what has really changed the most: you or my impressions of you. What has really changed, I think, is our mutual and growing respect for each other. I am sure you would agree that we have both learned from each other.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Gunnar my life was SO busy back then. I don't think I took the discussions all that seriously but would stay up late at night as an escape from in real life. Plus I was almost always being mercilessly attacked for most of those year unless there was a break in it where I could hear myself actually think. Me and my shadow. ;-) I suppose if there are changes in us we can chalk it up to age, time, experience, more information, and probably we have rubbed off on each other to some degree.

But if someone were to show me a post without your name on it I would still recognize it as you. :-)

p.s. On second thought, maybe I just wore you down.
