I'm not sure I could ever give my kids as much as my ancestors gave me but I'm trying. I just brought my wife a $8k ring, my kids a 12V Mercedes, new bikes, paid for my daughter's summer camp, ballet classes, giant doll house, new Ipads, new bedroom suit, put money away for their college, and on top of they've a got a nice insurance policy in case I fall over and die sooner than expected.

So, your idea of a legacy is what material crap you gave your kids while you still lived? You mention bikes and iPads, but not a word about spending time and making memories? As long as you threw sh-it at your kids, you did your job. Is that it?
Don't get me wrong; the insurance policy (if real) does show an above average attention to your responsibilities, and I'm always impressed with men who do that for their families. But seriously, man, if you think the above list is what your kids are going to remember about you and not the way you actually were around them, you're in for a sad revelation.

Besides, as you rightly implied, material wealth and comfort are not the only or even the best indicators of one's quality of life. Even the Book of Mormon he believes in teaches that. Perhaps the most recurrent theme in that book was how often the seeking of material wealth and comfort led to corruption, misery and eventual downfall, and even the very extinction of the Nephites.

Yeah, it's probably to the same degree as people making women feel lesser if they aren't pumping out kids and cooking meals. Society comes with expectations. It's up to us what we do with them.
I remember my family, especially my dad and everyone in the church I grew up with expected me to go on a mission, so, ya know... LMAO. Like that was going to happen.

I've even managed to keep my son in new shoes in spite of how fast he's growing. None of that would have been possible if I had stayed home cowering in fear of the virus.
