Trump's sister is secretly recorded calling Trump "cruel," "phony," and more.

Trump's sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, was recorded by her niece, Mary Trump. If these are accurate, I wish Barry would speak up about her comments. A few excerpts:
Maryanne Trump Barry called her brother President Donald Trump "cruel" and appeared to confirm her niece Mary Trump's previous allegations that he had a friend take his SATs to get into college, according to transcripts and audio excerpts obtained exclusively by the Washington Post.
Among the some of the more critical comments made by Barry was commenting on how her younger 74-year-old brother operated as president. "His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God," she said, according to the Post. "I'm talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy crap."
Barry also said at one point to her niece, "It's the phoniness of it all. It's the phoniness and this cruelty. Donald is cruel," according to the audio scripts and recordings.
I believe I read Barry was not aware she was being recorded, and her niece, Mary, doesn't expect to hear from her.

I heard this story and thought, the only reason this is remarkable is that there are people who, for whatever reason, won't see what is obvious to everyone else. Of course he's cruel and a liar. Everyone knows that. It's just that a third of the country has chosen to ignore, rationalize and lie about it.

I seriously see no point in talking to Trump supporters. What's the point of conversing with an idiot/asshole/liar/lunatic? You'll get more intelligence out of a chat with a dog.

It is blazingly obvious to me that, if anything, they actually admire the fact that he's cruel and a liar.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

There's no doubt this is true. It reminds me of religious people who rely on their imaginary friend to punish people someday they believe have slighted them in some way. If someone loves Trump because he's an asshole, I guarantee it's because they feel like an impotent piece of sh-it.

After the election of Obama, and before Trump I had the comforting impression or hope that at least overt racism in this country was waning slowly. I thought or hoped that a sizable proportion of those who still had latent racist feelings felt at least a bit guilty or embarrassed about still having such feelings. Then along came Trump who blatantly appealed to and tried to take advantage of that reservoir of latent racism that he was sure still remained, to divide and conquer. This effectively made many who surreptitiously still harbored such tendencies feel that they now had license to stop feeling guilty about them, and openly express and act upon them. He is obviously still trying to do that, and even doubling down on it. He thinks it is the only way he can win. I think that even he knows that he really doesn't have anything substantive or constructive to offer for enticing his base to vote for him.

If they aren't so loud, it's easy to forget how many stupid people exist. I work in an industry where I have very little contact with morons, so they aren't in my everyday consciousness. I have to go online to experience it, usually.

Racism is just one brand of stupidity, but it's a popular brand. It's appeals to ignorant, impotent rage.
