Withdrawing troops from Germany?
Hey guys I just nearly derailed another thread with a comment on this. I admittedly haven't investigated this (done my homework) so I'm bringing it here out of sheer laziness today.
What is this business about Trump withdrawing troops from Germany? My understanding (and correct me) is that this will take years and billions of dollars to do. So...if Biden wins the election, then Biden will have to spend $$ undoing what Trump started. Right?
Wonder what USAFE thinks about this? Germany? I haven't seen any comment by Chancellor Merkel on this. Anyway, here it is if anyone is interested in discussing.
Got links, I'd appreciate the share.

Jersey Girl,
Probably because most of the troops will be repositioned around Europe in an ostensibly better strategic use. I dunno. It’s not like having troops in Germany stopped Russia from taking Crimea and invading Ukraine, both of which fell squarely within their geopolitical aims.

Doubtful over half of them are being re-positioned back to the US. This is just another Trump move in Russia's favor. Germany is very strategic area in Europe that has the infrastructure and location that allows troops to be moved around Europe to meet NATO's strategic needs. Better start learning Russian.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 10:30 pmJersey Girl,

Cuban spanish should be enough for you to make your way around Bernie and Ocasio Cortez's new republic. This will save the effort of translating Fidel Castro and Che Guevara's ideas they're copying to institute here in the US.Better start learning Russian.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

This thread isn't about Bernie and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It's about a plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Germany.

(Dr. Shades here, using our "Temp. Admin." account.)
'Cause as an American taxpayer I prefer that American troops defend America, not Germany (or anywhere else).

It seemed a good idea when Gondor withdrew its defenses at the Barad-dûr. The troops could be used elsewhere.
