Although Biden was not my first choice for President, there is no question in my mind about him being a far, far better candidate than Trump, but one of the people I would enthusiastically prefer over Biden, if he were in the running, would be Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, from Rhode Island. He supports almost all of the things I support, and is one of the most scientifically literate and articulate members of the Senate. In particular, few, if any, have more clearly, knowledgeably and brilliantly debunked climate change deniers than he. See here, here and here. He, along with Elizabeth Warren, convincingly pointed out that the economic benefits and potential job creation due to aggressively transitioning to a green economy would create many times more wealth than the cost of the transition, and almost infinitely more than the eventual cost of failure to do so.
Besides that, he has the perfect last name for the President of our country! He would be a worthy successor to Joe Biden! In fact, I wish he were running now, instead of Biden!

It's charming you linked to nearly fifty minutes worth of video for people to watch. Unfortunately, I'm not sure few, if any, would click on those links much less spend fifty minutes listening to the good Senator. Do you have a timestamp on any of the videos that you found was particularly interesting for us to check out? Remember, most people on this forum don't actually read posts that extend beyond a few sentences, and for sure the Conservatives hardly read at all. It's approximately 0% that the very people that need to watch those videos will do so, so between lengthy articulate posts or informational videos beyond a few seconds (or lacking cartoons), no one is checking them out. Quite often I tuck throwaway sentences in a lengthy post just to see if anyone catches it, and I think SS was the only one to catch one. Sometimes I'll tuck a throwaway comment embedded in the middle of a sentence stating outright what I'm doing, but no one has caught it so far. I do it in particular for the Trump supporters just to prove they don't read, or at best maybe they skim a bit to pick out some keywords or a sentence (usually the last one in a paragraph) in order to crap out some nonsensical response.
Whatever the case may be I think we're having a sort of 2016 redux when it comes to the elections.
The 2008 financial crisis revealed to a lot of us that the economic and political systems were rigged against us. The 'American dream' had turned into a nightmare - low wages, insecure employment deliberately designed to use you and get you to quit, expensive housing, disastrous healthcare costs, unsupportable student debt, tax cuts for billionaires, poor public services, crumbling infrastructure, etc...
YOU can't buy a house, but THEY can buy a Councilman, state Legislator/Rep, Senator, Congressman, Judge, or President. Look at what just happened with those 100% immoral tax cuts - they exploded the debt that will come home to roost and will affect us, the little guys, the most.
I think the Occupy movement was the forerunner to what's happening now. I think it alarmed the billionaire class. They put its resources into stopping it - the Tea Party, astroturfed far-right movements, and got a lot of political traction in the 2010 midterms. Let's see if any of the idiot right types on this forum see this and the next sentence, but I doubt it. I even queued up what I'm doing right now by explaining what I'm doing in the first paragraph above. Here's the problem, though. The squeeze was on and nothing really changed unless you count the virtual disappearance of upward mobility for the lower classes into a shrinking middle class.
And then the Democrats screwed up. They nominated Hillary Clinton. Bernie was probably going to win that thing, but the DNC colluded to take him down.
So, in 2016 people were offered a choice between more of the same in Hillary Clinton, or someone who would break a system that did not seem to be working (Trump). Folks in critical rust-belt states chose Trump. Some of them were no doubt racists and xenophobes. But we forget that underneath all the hateful rhetoric and ridiculous theater, Trump in 2016 made the right noises to reach out to these people: he promised - although without any intention of delivering - to rebuild infrastructure and create jobs. This allowed some to overlook his flaws. If he gets elected again I just think it'll mostly be due to people being scared shitless of the degenerates who loot and burn.
There seems to be no limit to how far the millionaire and billionaire class will go to protect its economic interests, or how low their enablers will stoop to ensure that the blame for the pain experienced by the working class is shifted towards the Other - remember, the Kochs are just one of many Right-wing millionaires and billionaires who are invested in Trump's reelection. Why do you think Trump is so obsessed with touting the stock market? It ain't the little guy making a killing off it. Trump is just the frontman for powerful economic interests who want to asset-strip a dying America. His job is to keep up the anger and the hate and the division, while others destroy what is left of the America we knew in the 20th century.
Anyway. My long-winded rant's tl;dr is this: I think Biden is HRC2 and we run a real risk of seeing Trump elected again because the DNC didn't learn from its defeat in 2016 by nominating someone who doesn't represent the real issues the working class is facing right now.

Yeah, I get why people are inclined to think along those lines, but I'm a firm believer that Trump only beat HC because of the Comey Letter and not because the Democrats didn't provide the right kind of candidate. I think Trump's has been losing supporters over the past few years, I think Biden's lead in swing states are more solid that HC's was at this point. I think it would take another black swan event for Biden to lose, but there is always the need to be cautiously optimistic because if 2016 taught us anything, it is to never underestimate the amount of stupid in America.
The post-convention poll numbers should be coming out over the next few days, so we should know more then. There is typically a bump after the RNC which lasts a couple of weeks.

No, Trump will be reelected because most people want to work at better paying jobs for a living rather than living off stimulus checks. Once that pipeline construction begins we'll be able to take plenty of skilled worker hispanic legal immigrants with conservative values who still believe in God. The drug runners and welfare queens looking to capitalize on idiotic asylum laws won't even get past the wall.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Virtually no one I know of who supports Trump does so for economic reasons. For crying out loud, the economy has crashed under the last three Republican administrations, including this one.
My dream scenario would be that Trump wins, and the Democrats take the Senate and then impeach and convict him. He needs to be made an example of for future tyrant wannabes.

Military Times Poll shows that more troops will vote for Biden. This is huge given that the military was supposedly one of Trump's strongest supporters.

But what if he gets impeached and Pence doesn't? Would Pence have the nerve to pardon Trump, or would he fear impeachment himself if he tried?
