Grindael: RIP, A MDB Treasure

All I know about GFM is that it keeps a percentage of the proceeds. I'm just putting that out there. This forum has been generous in the past for various causes and concerns.

If you look at most of the replies on this thread we are all expressing gratitude and appreciation for what he gave to us. I strongly feel that in this case, we should give something back in support of his family.

I think it's the very least we can do as a community to relieve the family of additional burden when they're already carrying the full weight of deep loss and grief.

I am certain that I can collect up his work in Paradise on my own but since he posted primarily in Terrestrial, if one or more posters would take that on, maybe each take a year's worth of posts/threads at a time, I think it's completely do-able.

I know he sometimes started threads and other times, he'd come into a thread to answer questions at length. Maybe just snatch all of it up and post the links to the applicable threads?

We need a rule. Mentalgymnast should NOT be allowed to post on any thread where Grindael’s posts are celebrated. Mentalgymnast’s inexcusable harassment over multiple years is the reason Grindeal stopped posting here as much as he had previously.

I second this motion!!
I did share the fundraiser, but by the time people in my part of the world started to respond, it closed.
To my understanding they have been in a pretty bad financial situation without insurance etc, and his wife is now left with a lot of bills to pay.

I for one would like to see that fundraiser cascade!
Anyone here in contact with his wife?

I am not in contact but if she could see fit to open that back up, we'd be good to go so long as someone could thoughtfully suggest it to her.

If the board's functioning isn't too messed up, volunteers could send the links to Shades and when he's done posting them, he can lock the thread to prevent additional posts. :-)

For what it's worth, any "post collecting" that happens for Grindaels posts or any other posts, I highly recommend keeping offline copies available, as I'm not optimistic about saving the database of this site at this time.
