Problems with the board

My recommendation would be that we form a non-profit organization with a board and come up with an offer to Keene. No single person should own this board. If one person owns it, then it is always going to be vulnerable to the state of mind, welfare, and ability of that one person.

I've administered a non-profit educational program but I don't know how it works for something like this. One thing I'd like to mention and I don't know if it matters is that a mormondiscussions.org already exists.

We're looking at $500 minimum to purchase domain + database and $150-300/year in hosting fees. Do you think this forum could've consistently raised that kind of money over the past 18 years to keep it up and running?

Shades pitched it to him for $500. He never responded.

We have a copy of the database but we're likely not able to transfer it over legally without his permission. And there is some doubt as to whether or not the database we have would properly upload to a new PHPbb system. The offer was payment would be after, and only after, the new board was up and running without problems.

But we may not be able to transfer archived threads, so there is a chance we're talking about just starting a new forum from scratch with new domain name if Keene never responds.
