I haven't seen any mention this offer posted by Shades. How do you know about this?Icarus wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:22 pmShades pitched it to him for $500. He never responded.
We have a copy of the database but we're likely not able to transfer it over legally without his permission. And there is some doubt as to whether or not the database we have would properly upload to a new PHPbb system. The offer was payment would be after, and only after, the new board was up and running without problems.
But we may not be able to transfer archived threads, so there is a chance we're talking about just starting a new forum from scratch with new domain name if Keene never responds.

Yes, I think we could come up with that kind of money.

Re: Problems with the board
It was a deal set up by Gad, Shades, Dr. Moore and a couple other posters who typically hang in the terrestrial forum. I was included in the email exchange. I'm not sure how I got involved, I can't remember. But I think one of them reached out to me to see if I'd pitch in financially.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:36 pm

I think this forum has been operating for about 15+ years? At times there is high traffic, but unless I'm off, it seems that there are down years too where the usual posters disappear for a while. Shades is sometimes difficult to get in touch with, and apparently our primary (only?) moderator has been missing for a couple of months now. I just think there is a risk of losing the forum during a down year because someone forgets to pay a bill or there is a lack of funding.

So what you are saying is that you are publicly disclosing privately gotten information about this board and three other posters that took place behind the scenes off the board. By my count that's four times you've done something like this on the board with alleged private information in the span of one week's time now.

There is a way to structure things so that the money is paid from an account. Members of the board of directors of the non-profit will have a minimum donation commitment. They will pay that money up front. If they need to cycle off the board for any reason, they have plenty of time to let us know. We will also have mechanisms for others to make donations. There are ways of handling all of these problems.Icarus wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:45 pmI think this forum has been operating for about 15+ years? We gathered that level of annual fees on another board I was on when the posters bought it from the owner/administrator. I like the idea of a board of directors. I like that quite a lot.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:50 pmThere is a way to structure things so that the money is paid from an account. Jesus Christ, you asked and when I tell you, you complain because I told you. Obviously if it wasn't posted here it was in private correspondence, so you knew that and asked anyway, so if you didn't want to know, why ask? There is nothing secretive about our offline discussion of this topic. I suspect an email thread was created so Shades could share the proposal with us and get feedback. It shouldn't be any surprise that efforts have been made behind the scenes to resolve this issue. If you're pissed off because you weren't included, oh well.
by the way: I also had lunch with Shades. OH NO! I just gave up "private information" about what another poster did off the forum! Someone alert Homeland Security.

Well, none of this is really viable without Keene's permission or willingness to sell the database.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:50 pmThere is a way to structure things so that the money is paid from an account. I object to you repeatedly violating the rules of this board. I questioned you in such a way as to carefully determine if you were doing it once again.Icarus wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:57 pm"Private information?!"Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:47 pmSo what you are saying is that you are publicly disclosing privately gotten information about this board and three other posters that took place behind the scenes off the board.
