Well, you're certainly right about that. There is no denying that under the extreme circumstances inherent to wildfires, trees can indeed rapidly burst into flame, which is not essentially different from "exploding." I have seen it happen in broadcast news videos by on-site news teams reporting on fire suppression efforts.subgenius wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:51 pmClearly he was talking about "burning" trees which explode. which happens. There is no way to interpret what you quoted as "trees randomly explode". Trees explode from lightning strokes, freezing, and from sap/water boiling within.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 9:38 am...
I need to stop. I go crazy over these things! They can just explode. A CHILD knows that trees don't "just explode". ...

No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Re: The lessons of the pandemic and global warming
Oh good! I have it stored for when I am in the throes of cabin fever this winter! I've already started on Harry Potter audio books and I really like it. I've seen that shortened quote on so many decor pieces but when I read the quote in context, it just resonated with me because it is so much like me as a child and now as an adult. Exactly like me.
It's funny how you guys offer compliments when I am just pitching it out straight from the heart and mind. I suppose I should do that more. I call it getting it out of my gut. When I can't take the build up of a thing any more.
Oh and I wanted to say that the first time ever that I read Walden by Thoreau I was totally flabbergasted since in his chapter on Economy he identified the exactly same observations that I had noticed most of my life and he did so back in the 1800's! That book is favorite of mine that when I read it, I usually begin in September and go through fall into Winter with him.
I'm a little crazy like that. I'm sure you see no sign of it though. ;-)

If it's pretty self evident, I have to say, you show no signs of understanding it yourself. Just an observation.ajax18 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:56 pmIt's pretty self evident. I think they'll figure that out on their own. I still give them a bath every night even though the damn communists in our city government have jacked my utility bill through the roof. I won't need to teach them this either. They'll figure it out when they start having to pay it themselves.Do your children know and understand that they are dependent on the natural world? Have you taught them this?
I think that the job of a parent is to be their child's first guide and interpreter. I don't know how you see it. I don't want to talk about this any more with you.

ajax this is all I am willing leave you with.
Genesis Chapter One KJV
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Trump said exactly nothing about wildfires in his statement. Trees do not spontaneously combust as cause wildfires as he indicated.Gunnar wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 10:20 pmWell, you're certainly right about that. Jersey Girl do you believe it's possible that the earth is overpopulated? Does mankind still need to multiply in your opinion?Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 1:19 amajax this is all I am willing leave you with.

Sometimes I wonder if Pelosi believes her own, "Mother Earth is angry," rhetoric she spews only to immediately get onto her private jet. I understand that in her world the same rules that the common people are bound to uphold don't apply to the elites like her, like getting your hair done. But still, did it ever cross her mind how much CO2 that private jet she flies suffocates mother earth?
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Yes, definitely.
No. This isn't the beginning of the world or humankind. This is likely the end of it.Does mankind still need to multiply in your opinion?
I don't really care about Pelosi. If she's using private jets...yes, I think that in the normal course of things she warrants criticism. If she's currently using a private jet during a pandemic, I would cut her slack on that due to her being deemed at high risk. I don't really know anything about her travel or transportation history.Sometimes I wonder if Pelosi believes her own, "Mother Earth is angry," rhetoric she spews only to immediately get onto her private jet. As Salongate, I criticized her heavily for that.

Well, of course, no tree not already subjected to an intense heat source like a lightning strike or heat from an already active wildfire around it is going to suddenly burst explosively into flame.

Re: The lessons of the pandemic and global warming
Let's bring forward Trump's words once again.
Trump Blames Poor Forest Management on Wildfires in California
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFsKfZadXI0
He's not talking about how wildfires ignite trees. He's asserting that trees simply explode and cause wildfires.
The man is out to lunch. He's a city boy and science denier. Hell, he's a common sense denier!
Let's listen to them in the context of the interview in which he said them. But with regard to the forest: When trees fall down, after a short period of time — about 18 months — they become very dry. They become, really, like a matchstick. And they get up — you know, there’s no more water pouring through, and they become very, very — well, they just explode. They can explode.
