The remote was genius. I'd just been thinking how quiet and peaceful the past few days have been since Trump's been off the grid.

Trump had taken a hit in the polls for his debate performance prior to getting Covid-19. The Trump Campaign was hoping for a sympathy bounce after the President caught the virus. This does not appear to have happened:
CNN wrote:Joe Biden's advantage over President Donald Trump has expanded and the former vice president now holds his widest lead of the cycle with less than a month remaining before Election Day, according to a new nationwide CNN Poll conducted by SSRS.

Among likely voters, 57% say they back Biden and 41% Trump in the poll that was conducted entirely after the first debate and mostly after the President's coronavirus infection was made public.
Those percentages are very close to the popular vote advantage that Reagan had over Mondale in 1984, when Reagan won every state except Mondale's home state of Minnesota.

Reagan's electoral landslide would be virtually impossible to duplicate, but if Trump has more deleterious health problems from the virus the electoral map really starts looking ugly for the President. If the President's debate performance and illness lose him the swing states, you're looking at 370+ electoral votes for Biden.

Again, given some of the voting obstacles that are being erected, I doubt will see an electoral landslide. But one comforting aspect will be that given wide popular vote margins, the justification for a recount would become weaker.

Got my ballot in the mail today. It appears to have been unopened ;-)

KEEP IN MIND THAT Trump IS ON HIGH DOSE DEXAMETHASONE. Back to Mayo...I'm not reformatting this thing.

Psychiatric Adverse Effects of Corticosteroids
THOMAS P. WARRINGTON, MD, AND J. MICHAEL BOSTWICK, MD

ADVERSE EFFECTS

PSYCHIATRIC DISTURBANCES

Long-discounted mid 20th-century studies by Rome and
Braceland5 and Garner and Falk6 suggested that the occurrence of corticosteroid-induced psychiatric reactions depended on the patient’s premorbid personality organizations.
Brody7 also suggested that these reactions reflected an extreme version of a patient’s usual stress reaction. More recent studies show that corticosteroids universally induce
central nervous system effects, some dramatic enough to
attract clinical attention. In our literature review, we found
that the potential psychiatric adverse effects of corticosteroids span a symptom spectrum from subtle mood changes to
full-blown affective syndromes and frank psychosis.
In this article, we define clinically significant symptoms
as those that disrupt patients’ daily lives or cause duress to
them or those around them. We characterize mild to moderate reactions as those representing changes in mood or
behavior that do not reach the level of a diagnosable psychiatric disorder. The most frequently identified symptoms
include agitation, anxiety, distractibility, fear, hypomania,
indifference, insomnia, irritability, lethargy, labile mood,
pressured speech, restlessness, and tearfulness. Following
the lead of Smyllie and Connolly,8 who in 1968 defined a
severe reaction as “serious enough to require psychiatric
advice and treatment,” we define a severe reaction as a
constellation of major symptoms consistent with a diagnosable affective syndrome, psychotic disorder, delirium, or
another psychiatric condition. The most commonly reported corticosteroid-induced psychiatric disturbances are
affective, including mania, depression, or mixed states.
Most often, patients receiving short-term corticosteroid
therapy present with euphoria or hypomania, whereas longterm therapy tends to engender depressive symptoms.9 Although mood disorders occur in the vast majority of cases,
either delirium or frank psychosis, typified by hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thought, is the presenting syndrome in a sixth of patients.10-12 Severe episodes of
depression, mania, or psychosis frequently include suicidal
ideation.

COGNITIVE DEFICITS

Cognitive deficits, particularly declarative or verbal memory deficits, have been well documented during both
long- and short-term corticosteroid therapy. Deficits during short-term therapy are consistent with hippocampal dysfunction and occur with reversible atrophy of hippocampal neurons.13-15 New declarative memory deficiencies may emerge after only 4 to 5 days of dexamethasone or prednisone therapy.16 These disturbances appearto be dose dependent and reversible with corticosteroid
discontinuation.

More severe cognitive impairment consistent with delirium or dementia has also been described.17,18 In a review
of corticosteroid psychoses, Hall et al19 identified markeddistractibility in 79% of cases and intermittent memory
impairment in 71%. Persistent memory impairment in 7% suggested corticosteroid-induced dementia. Proposed explanations for persistent cognitive impairment focus on
increased hippocampal vulnerability to irreversible damage via several mechanisms.20

So, is an example of white privilege when a white man spends decades as a Senator passing laws like 3 strikes yer out and then targeting blacks with legislation that provides harsher penalties for crack than cocaine - but you get drug charges for your own kid dropped?

It would be hard to tell if Trump were suffering any of the listed side effects for dexamethasone since they pretty much represent a definition of who he is. Trump doesn't suddenly get irritable, for instance; that's his natural state.

Just starting the Pence/Harris debate. I like the way this is set up. Both candidates sitting. Plexiglass between them. Keep in mind that the head of the coronavirus task force's people didn't want him to use plexiglass and some actually mocked Harris for requesting it.

We'll just see how this goes...

Let it be known that Pence is dodging the questions regarding Covid 19. He's also lying out his butt.
