Scientific American article on the effect of higher night-time temperatures on fighting wildfires. One of the long predicted signatures of anthropogenic global warming has been that night time temperatures would increase faster than day time temperatures. The difference is measurable and has adverse consequences for fighting wildfires. https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti ... -the-dark/

The ironical "lack of credibility" argument coming from the Brietbart, Prager, Daily Caller crowd is something to behold.

Glad to hear I am not the only one with a sense of cognitive dissonance (commonly known as 'WTF?') here ...

Obama had it right when he alluded to scared people who cling to their guns and religion.
Here is Obama's full quote about people in small-town America that you reference.

"They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

It's interesting that you think "Obama had it right" when he made this demeaning and bigoted comment.

As to the rest of your very special post here, after thinking it over, I used great personal restraint and made a decision to simply pass.
He was literally correct. I moved to a small town and many of the folks are like this. On the town’s Facebook page there are people posting about all the new people moving into the area, and they better learn how to fit in. While I agree with both Obama’s take and the Facebook community’s warning to new people, I don’t think pretending people aren’t what they are helps anyone.

Well, one major sacrifice is being forced to switch to more efficient light bulbs that have a lower total cost (purchase price plus electricity cost) than inefficient, incandescent light bulbs. Yes, the sacrifice is to save money.
Way back when I used to listen to Rush I recall him freaking out about the new generation of lightbulbs. He refused to use them and he’d rail on these things over and over again. He had all sorts of reasons not to use them, but the reasoning was ‘something something Liberals forcing them on us and they’re ugly, the light isn’t right, and the cost was too high.’ It wasn’t until my then-gf-now-wife insisted I’d save money if I swapped out all the lightbulbs did I see that it was all nonsense - and I saved a good amount of money every month on my utility bill. Not gonna lie, I felt foolish for not doing it sooner.

My stepfather was the same way, complaining about how the bulbs looked. Of course, if Bill O'Reilly was pushing for these bulbs he'd be all over them.

I was born in a different land
And I've been in a lot of other lands
Where I found friends on every hand
... And I guess that's something you'll NEVER understand!

Perceptions

First impressions can be strong
About those we see around.
Yet how often are they wrong?
That is the truth I've found.

Not all who cry are weak.
Not everyone who looks can see.
Not all who are quiet are meek.
Not all who nod agree.

Not all who snarl are cruel.
Not everyone generous is just.
Not everyone clumsy is a fool.
Not all who wander are lost.

We never know people's character.
In just a single instance.
We never know who people are
By judging from a distance.

But whether we like it or not,
We'll always be around people.
Is it better to know a few people a lot
Or a lot of people a little?

I'd rather know a few people a lot
Than a lot of people a little.
