This might be an issue when these college students take over the country and - as opposed to rooming together in college - start telling you where you can’t live, where and when you can’t drive, what college - if any- you are allowed to attend, where you’re allowed to shop and at what times, and what water fountains and eating establishments that you’re allowed to use, when they let you. Also, whether or not you can remain a free citizen, as opposed to them taking you out of your home and selling you to someone else.

Really, "the KKK agrees with leftists" is itself a nod to the KKK -- "see, even you want this; it's the only way this will work". The KKK does not promote this vision as white supremacy, but as equal opportunity for all races. Does A-Mike disagree with the KKK?

Back in the day, conservatives would distinguish between "equality of opportunity" and "equality of result" and argue for equality of opportunity. The KKK's vision is really just a warped version of equality of opportunity.

"victimization is racist" is just a way to help everyone accept the KKK's idea. "See! it's the only thing that's gonna work!"

I will explain. Suppose I believe in equality of opportunity in the usual sense. It's possible that our society fails to provide equal opportunity for people of all colors. Let's not specify what color or where the failure is. But we must acknowledge that it is possible for society to fail. However, pointing out that a poor result is due to lack of equal opportunity, even if the link is valid, is automatically "victimizing" the, er, victim. So it's not possible to discuss equality of opportunity in the usual sense anymore because to do so is "victimizing" and "racist".

Therefore, everything must stay as it is. if poor results abound, we can say nothing. We starve out those feeling the poor results under the pretense of allowing them their self-respect and pride, and as they band together, point out that segregation is the only thing that will ever work, as they are demonstrating.

And along with your analogy, what these right-wingers do is go out and interview Mrs. X, or Mrs. Y, someone in the same boat, and to nobody's surprise, Mrs. Y is a tough lady and insists she's making it and doesn't need sympathy. Aside from people who have grown up with a silver spoon like Donald Trump and Ajax (relatively speaking) who love to play the victim, many people who really struggle are tough and have their self-respect and pride. Normal people don't want to be seen as "victims".

And there are certainly activists who too easily appropriate someone else's plight as their own. I can understand a person in a tough situation resenting somebody else dramatizing their situation or even media's portrayal. But none of that takes away from the fact that society might be unfair and there is a need to address that unfairness.

I guess I wasn't aware that I grew up with a silver spoon in my mouth. Tell me more about all the wealth I was born into. My first bedroom I shared with my sister in a mobile home. I usually sat with my younger siblings on top of me with seven people piled into a tiny chevette. And yes we had an extra chevette from the junkyard up on cinder blocks in our yard to use for parts.

I was and still am privileged but not in the way you think of privilege. My privilege came in having a mother who while very capable of putting her homecoming queen good looks and keen intellect to use in the business world and become rich, chose to devote all her time to her eldest son and his siblings. My privilege came from a father who sometimes worked 24 hours straight as a salaried employee. People thought he was a genius. He wasn't. They just didn't understand how much being motivated and willing to work can do for the intellect. The fact that my mother and father are still married and committed to each other puts me in a very exclusive club. It's a privilege that fewer and fewer people in this country will enjoy as the old conservative culture dies and the new progressive culture of serial monogamy replaces it. My last name is a privilege not because some politician passed a bill that said it should be but because of the reputation created by the choices and actions of those who carried it before me. And above all, I'm privileged to have been born into the Mormon church and have had the advantage of finding a purpose and meaning in my life when I was faced with the most difficult questions. My privilege is not in money. My privilege is in my DNA and the hardships endured by those before me that helped to refine it.
