That makes sense.

The New Jersey numbers are, from an analytical view, significantly more interesting than VA. Also, the delays and process and drama associated with New Jersey is more interesting. 2022 is going to be interesting to watch.

I doubt it was any primary consideration in the lose. Economy ranked higher in concern than education and a lot of the education angst is likely hangover from Covid pain. Coupled with a very unpopular President, in a setting that is generally less favorable for the incumbent party, and a Republican that did frankly a damn fine job of balancing the Trump vs Not Trump parts of his base. It takes a lot of factors to swing a state that hard.
Well she did state the schools being shut down so long as one of her complaints. And the governor is who is ultimately responsible for opening versus shutting down. Perhaps this does explain what swung a few votes?

But I think the push to make parents who oppose critical race theory in the curriculum as being the face of domestic terrorism by the teachers union and Merrick Garland probably contributed to this Democrat loss in a state Biden won by 10 percentage points.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

I am not agreeing with everything Ajax is saying, but he ain't wrong re the pinked point of question.

Doc Cam, on the logic here, of whether the rhetoric contributed to an outcome, this seems consistent with points you have made or hinted at in other threads. If you call a riot a peaceful protest, when it is not, then do not pretend to be surprised when the rhetoric leads to an unwanted outcome. When one defends antifa agitators with glossy terms that fail to describe the agitation, then please let's not act surprised when the defense gets rejected or leads to unwanted reactions.

When it comes to parents and kids - Look TF out! If we use rhetoric that is clearly a crock of damnit and ashes to get between parents and their kids, well, hell cannot restrain that momma bear we are purposefully pissing off. Merrick's move, and the VA Democrats too, was dumb. It was going to push the other side and do nothing for their own cause. It was a net negative move from the get-go.

Two of your links are paywalled.

From one of your links:
That is not what the memorandum is about at all, nor does it use the words ‘domestic terrorism’ or ‘PATRIOT Act,’" Garland said.
This link:

States educators were facing threats of physical violence, to include over ‘teaching critical race theory’ in their classrooms, but they weren’t teaching it.

Were there threats of violence or violence toward educators?

Ajax,

Please provide the link where you got the copypasta from.

I am not sure what your point is, Doc. Are you saying that the parents really were domestic terrorists? Or, that the parents were being terrorists even though critical race theory has never been present in a classroom?

This is one hell of a mess. A huge mess. It is a rhetoric spaghetti at best. The parents were pissed, and then they got called terrorists. And then a LOT more parents got pissed and turned it into a political rally issue.

It's a quote from Ben Shapiro. I'm not even going to attempt to google it because I know google has probably already hidden this information deep under 18 to 20 pages of left wing propaganda. Soon we'll have our own social media site full of forbidden knowledge that you won't dare to look at.

Well,

1) I want to know if there were actually threats of violence or violence towards educators. If threats of violence or violence over critical race theory, which isn’t being taught, is happening that is, in fact, a terroristic threat. It makes sense the teachers union would ask the DoJ to take a look at it.

2) Merrick Garland didn’t use any loaded terms in his memo, so I don’t understand what Ajax’s point is.

3) I wanted Ajax to provide a link to the article so I could read it contextually, since I’m not sure how much was excised or not, but he couldn’t provide a link which tells me that he, once again, just googled some keywords, found a link, copied it, and dropped it here with some absurd accompanying statement. Basically firing and forgetting, which is what he does. When pressed he’ll just pivot to some unrelated complaint since his only intent is to paste something, make an erroneous comment, and then move on to his next complaint.

As an aside, Ajax once again has expressed his desire for secession. He is not a patriot.
