And if it were considered 'actionable' by those in charge, then you've done everything you can to report it, and it's out of your hands. All you're doing now is repeating information that's been known and discussed for quite a while.
I'm only here because the Trib published their article after a healthy delay, and then the article came up here for discussion, including me by name. I'm not the OP.

Again, I'll repeat for the umpteenth time, what I found out *was* actionable because we know the AG's office acted on it. What we don't know is the outcome, because the AG isn't talking and John refuses to release the supposed letter clearing his name. How does no one find this last fact really really odd??
I don't find it really odd, because you yourself clearly explained that BOTH groups told you that you had no right to see the results of their investigations:

I received a letter from the IRS some time in the fall acknowledging that my complaint had been received, but stating clearly that any outcome would not be communicated to me, unless I were to receive an award....

As it relates to the AG's office, I filed that complaint the same week as the IRS. I stayed in touch with the lead investigator to whom my complaint was assigned several weeks later. He confirmed to me via phone that his office had indeed launched an investigation into Open Stories Foundation (which John confirmed in the story) but reiterated that even though I filed the complaint, I would not be privy to any of the information obtained or even the results of the investigation...

So the bottom line is, the IRS received and acknowledged my complaint, the AG's office did an audit of Open Stories Foundation and we'll never know what the outcome of either of those investigations yielded.

Look Marcus. Tomorrow, we are no longer cooperating or agreeing. Do you understand this? Whatever is going on today, is an exception. It is like peace in the middle east and you are a language deleted terrorist or something, but we are at peace or a ceasefire and then later, no peace. Cool?

No sense beating this up, but this is not adding up. Investigation started in the fall of what year? 2020 or 2021? If it was filed in the fall of 2021 and closed in less than 120 days with two investigations or audits, during COVID, there was no there there. Not only did the IRS and AG kick this can down the road, they whistled while they worked and went on. Pestering JD, who is also a clown, over this is giving him a hell of a lot more power.

God, I see stories like this and I always think of Boz. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/07/nfl-br ... -boz-shirt

Sure, Sparky. I believe that you have a savior complex and an axe to grind re:John Dehlin, and that KK and Rosebud are most definitely out for revenge and/or notoriety. You can tell yourself whatever facilitates your feel goods and a decent night’s sleep, but hundreds of your posts on this forum and others say much more than your silly denials ever will.
You claimed Rosebud, KK and people like me are trying to supplant JD and be the new face(s) of ex-Mormonism.

You were wrong. Take the L.

So because someone has the right to do something, that makes it in no way shady?

If I'm not mistaken, this is the same forum that slams the church for not disclosing any sort of financials and hiding behind its religious exemptions.

I'm applying Occam's Razor on this one. John doesn't want to release the letter because it makes him and Open Stories Foundation look bad and doesn't actually clear them at all.

Where is your proof that the IRS and AG kicked the can down the road? You're stating this as fact without a shred of evidence.

The IRS could very well have fined John and we wouldn't know. Same with the AG.

No way, you are just grinding the same old ax of retribution. The real tragedy is the Salt Lake Tribune becoming immersed in sulfur and brimstone. The Tribune used to stand as the barrier preventing the Church from subsuming the State of Utah.

So now the Trib has Mormons thinking it's evil and out to get them and ex-Mormons thinking it's evil and out to get them.

Sounds like they're doing an excellent job!

So we know a bounty was not paid to Patterson. Here are the rules for the bounty to be paid:
What are the rules for getting an award?
Internal Revenue Code (IRC) section 7623 provides for awards, in some cases mandatory, when the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) takes action based on a whistleblower's information. Claims for award that provide specific and credible information regarding tax underpayments or violations of internal revenue laws and that lead to proceeds collected may qualify for an award.

The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 defined proceeds as penalties, interest, additions to tax, and additional amounts provided under the internal revenue laws, as well as any proceeds arising from laws for which the IRS is authorized to administer, enforce, or investigate. This includes criminal fines, civil forfeitures, and violations of reporting requirements.

In general, the IRS will pay an award of at least 15 percent, but not more than 30 percent of the proceeds collected attributable to the information submitted by the whistleblower. The award percentage decreases for claims based on information from public sources or if the whistleblower planned and initiated the actions that led to the noncompliance. Awards will be processed as either a section 7623(a) or 7623(b) award.

To qualify for the IRC section 7623(b) award program, the information must:

Relate to a tax noncompliance matter in which the tax, penalties, interest, additions to tax, and additional proceeds in dispute exceed $2,000,000; and
Relate to a taxpayer, and for individual taxpayers only, one whose gross income exceeds $200,000 for at least one of the tax years in question.
If a submission does not meet the criteria for IRC section 7623(b) consideration, the IRS will consider it for the discretionary program under IRC section 7623(a) of the Code.
This puts a definite upper bound on the small amount of fraud Dehlin was able to perpetrate, if any...

To put this in perspective for those who think 2 million is a lot, even the insignificant non profit that Peterson runs was raking in 1+ million a year as of 2019.

Hey, the good news is that it kept the IRS busy. And that, is, great!

I have no problem with having a bitch with and about Dehlin. Everybody should try that out. I find it silly to have have an issue with the dude because he is making money at the firm he owns and founded and he is paying himself from the "revenue." I do not give a damn what every other ding a ling phodcast is doing either.

Podcasts are NOT profitable. They make money through ancillary products and services or from bake sales and selling crack cocaine to whores from the back seat of Philo's four-door buggy.

John Dehlin does not own the Open Stories Foundation, which runs Mormon Stories Podcast.
