This sad news helps me put petty squabbling in perspective.
Right, any of us could be next. It could be me! It could be you. It could be any of us. We are all gonna die and somebody on this board will be the next to pass. Who will it be? Nobody knows.
Any of us could suffer a fatal heart attack or some other unfortunate mortal imperfection.
Or get run over by a truck or slip and fall backward and crack the head open. The possibilities are endless.

God help us all.
For many of us, we (as a group of board members) would never know. One of us could easily slip away without anyone here realizing that we had died.
Bob's public profile made it almost certain that we would find out.
It makes me sad, in a way, to think that my only interactions with Bob were to disagree with him.

Me too, sort of. I recently put him on ignore because he kept pissing me off about the King's name in Facsimile No. 3 being Ptolemy which it is not. He wouldn't stop with that crap. But he kept gouging me and sticking it to me so I put him on my foes list. And now he's dead.
Currently, there is only a single poster on my foe list and that is Ed1 who is the impossible Ed Goble. I've written him off and suppose he will rest in peace as well in his own good time. Good riddance, Eddy-boy.
RIP, Bob. I liked him--he had a good sense of humor that many on the board misunderstood (in my opinion) and I thought that, in his own way, he was very fair. He had no problem disagreeing with critics or Mopologists.
"If, while hoping that everybody else will be honest and so forth, I can personally prosper through unethical and immoral acts without being detected and without risk, why should I not?." --Daniel Peterson, 6/4/14
I have come across his posts a number of times in a couple of forums. Definitely not a typical partisan. Cantankerous? Yes. Interesting? Also yes. Rest in peace.

Indeed. True on all accounts.
"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”
