If anyone is so inclined, the funeral is on Saturday the 26th. The funeral will be a closed casket, graveside only service.

For further details you can contact Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary at 801-466-8687.

Closed casket? That seems to draw my attention that something may be amiss. Or am I just imagining something?

Hmm. Let me check my crystal ball.

I don’t think I ever had any truly meaningful conversations with Bob after my faith transition, but I know we conversed/engaged the decade-or-so-ago when I was posting on FAIR. From what I recall it was usually about MMM, and was enjoyable.

I hope his family and friends are able to find peace and happiness reflecting on the bright moments, and trying to view dark moments through that same brightened lens.

My heart hurts for my friends here who are feeling the sting of Bob’s passing.

Rest in peace, Mr. Crocket. Live in peace, those who knew him.

Given the information I think it's safe to say his death was either very physically or mentally traumatic, likely both.

I'm glad he's now at peace, no matter the cause.

Yeah, it sounds like something may have really gone wrong. Closed casket is not something you'd expect.

Closed casket shouldn’t send your mind wandering or wondering. My 25 year old daughter has already made her wishes known that she wants a closed casket should she go before us. The subject came up when my aunt had requested closed casket and her cousin who was her executor decided at the last minute to do open casket. I had absolutely nothing to do with the open/closed casket decision, but my daughter initially blasted me for going against my aunt’s wishes, when I had absolutely nothing to do with it. That being said, I think an open casket or even knowing the cause of death provides a sense of closure for some people.

I agree. a relative of mine died at a ripe old age of natural causes and had a closed casket. A fair chunk of top-ranking brethren were at his funeral, and so it must be acceptable in the Church. (as opposed to say, cremation).

Then again, Bob often bragged on this forum about riding his BMW motorcycle at over 135 mph. I have to say, if that's the way it went down at his age, my respect for him has increased.
We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.

A similar announcement on our sister board has mustered only 14 comments.

For whatever it’s worth.

What it means to me is what drew me to this board years ago.

A sincere and genuine care and concern for others.

Regardless of their beliefs or behavior.

I wonder which one of us poor suckers is gonna go next. It could be YOU. It could be ME.

Somebody is next in line!

:?

We are going to die. All of us. You can't stop it.
