I cannot be absolutely sure what Msnobody meant but I think it very unlikely she meant some general rule like you propose which I think is too broad to be workable and not focused upon the Bible. Instead I think it likely that she meant God wants people to believe Jesus Christ. She would be observing the Bible to be witness to Jesus.
Yes, points to Christ from beginning to end. It is what God has given, the Word ( written, spoken, or the person of Jesus) that reveals to us the person of Jesus Christ, informs us of who we are, and how to have peace with God. It has been my experience that it does what it says it does.
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Heb. 4:12

I’ll venture a guess that his main disagreement is with the evangelical believe in “sola scriptura” as well as the belief that the scriptures are perfectly correct and always to be taken literally.
I didn't mean to express any disagreement at all. All I meant to do was ask a question. The question was not why Biblical Christians believe in Sola Scriptura; it was why they believe God wants them to believe anything in the Bible at all.

I've noticed that a lot of (if not most) posters on this forum don't have a belief in God, but I'm going to make this post anyway. From extended conversations with Biblical Christians I have come to the conclusion that they do not know what God has to say about the Bible. (Feel free to correct me if you disagree.) Why would God want us to believe in a book when He has never told us He wants us to believe in it?
Just as a FYI, I'm one of those who don't believe in God. But lots of other people do and I always find it interesting to talk about their beliefs.

IMy grumpier response is, do not believe in a book, believe in God and his word and call in Jesus. In faith show gratitude and responsibility for the gift of life.If the book helps good.(with the Holy Spirit it certainly can)
