I was very disappointed in what I heard in the initial reports. As time went on, however, it was interesting to watch how things spun into a 180 degree turn.

I do find it disheartening to observe the snap judgement against BYU and its fans that began this thread.

So an obviously “special needs” young man who was not heard to have said anything problematic by others present was called out for using the n word, and getting in the face of this duke player after the game? But an officer who stood by him in the 3rd and 4th sets didn’t hear anything racist nor problematic? The officer Took the young man aside after duke accused him of getting into a duke players face which no one else saw and he was subsequently banned even though he was cooperative? And the duke player got all the positive attention?

Hmmm…..I mean if des news and the officer are to believed this sounds made up.

I guess if the duke player is to believed the special needs man said a racist word, 3 or four times, and after the game threatened her. And the officer was pleased this obviously special needs man used racist language and then covered for him afterward? Or something?

Wouldn’t be surprised if the guy in his excitement approached duke players thinking they were BYU players, and other duke players and coaches overreacted.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the n word was never used during the match. It’s certainly possible but this sounds like a big mistake with many things embellished, dramatized, or misunderstood adding up and a whole fantastic story resulting.

Im not going to any woman’s BYU games. Those sound intense. And I guess BYU won 3 sets to 1.
