from NDEs to shared tripping???

Post by Marcus »

DCP has outdone himself on his latest NDE out-of-body experience post. Get this:
William Peters [author of Heaven's Door] recounts some personal experiences of his own.
In February 1993... I found myself floating above my physical body in the intensive care unit at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland...

[A doctor] gently called out my name and I remember thinking as I watched the scene from above, Do I really want to go back into that body? As I pondered this question, I decided at least to try to answer the doctor. “Yes, doctor.” As I spoke those words, I found myself refilling my physical body almost like sand pouring into the bottom of an hourglass . . . and the sensation in myadence physical body returned. I felt totally exhaausted, but my consciousness was back in my human form. . . .
okay. but then...
Peters began to volunteer at the Zen Hospice Project of San Francisco [working] with indigent people who were terminally ill. While engaged in that work, he had a shared-death experience
So, a Near-death, out-of body-experience, without the near-death. In other words, he was tripping? I would add hallucinating, but Peterson is adamant that there is no such thing as a shared hallucination.

So, has Peterson changed his mind? He believes in "shared-death experiences," but can't imagine witnesses being influenced by each other. His position is ridiculously inconsistent, but then so is the concept of "shared-death experiences."

Dowsing wasn't wacky enough, apparently.

oh dear god. Peterson's post, before the one in the OP:
I understand that a conviction of the validity of near-death studies might open one’s mind to the possibility of the truth of still other “paranormal” ideas. That is, in fact, somewhat the position in which I find myself: My mind isn’t wholly closed to such things as clairvoyance and extra-sensory perception...

unreal. he is losing it.
I’ve also had an entirely astonishing personal experience with water-divining, which I didn’t expect and for which I cannot account: On this, see my previous blog entries “Thoughts on a few controversial topics related to science” and “My career as a water witcher, armed with a divining rod.”
my concern [is] that association with a whole host of such fringy and undisciplined things detracts from the credibility of what [ I ] see as credible claims of out-of body experiences [OBEs] and near-death experiences [NDEs]....
"fringy and undisciplined," like dowsing, ESP, shared tripping and clairvoyance?

Wow.

I wonder if he’s ok? He seems to be obsessing about the paranormal lately, especially with regard to not-dead experiences. Couple that with his scruffy beard, and this dude is one psilocybin trip away from booking passage to India through the Crooze Laidee. Actually, he really ought to book a night or two in an ayahuasca retreat. He might learn a thing or two about himself.

I was thinking the same thing. This man would absolutely benefit from a guided trip... that third eye is starting to perceive some light.

and now he is just flat out lying.

gemli: "Funny how people in a cocoon don't know they're in a cocoon. And it's a coo-coo cocoon at that."

We all marvel at you. But we're too kind, on the whole, to laugh at you

 How much more disingenuous can one get. i hope Dr Moore sees this.

All DCP does is snark at gemli and laugh at him. And those are just the mild things-- the comment section of his blog is a free-for-all. No one would ever describe most of the good, temple-recommend-holding lds people there as "charitable" and "kind." Touchy, maybe, and unable to think logically for the most part, but "charitable" and "kind"?? No.

Maybe the GAs have clapped back at him again and he needs to put on a show.

Oh yeah, the Sic et Non brigade is just sooooo kind to Gemli.

If DCP didn't have a decades long history of this stuff, I'd say he's losing it. But he's just being his normal self.

lol, a "coo coo" cocoon.

Anyway, that is a significant advance in the position, a healthy person leaving his body as another person is leaving theirs due to sickness?

In DCP's world though, that only makes it more believable because now there are two witnesses.

If I recall correctly, the original movie "Flatliners" had some scenes along those lines.

Does Peterson believe Inception is reality TV?
