You are naïve.

Excellent point Yahoo Bot. I suspect this interesting tidbit came solely from your clientèle, but in the bawdy trade, passing a platter of turkey means engaging in sexual activities far beyond simple vaginal intercourse. It includes the full spectrum. Similar phrases for such an extensive treatment includes, "around the world" and "fly me to the moon baby".

Being a straight laced BIC type, Runtu would've course be a bit naïve on this point. Thank you for this clarification.

For those who aren't following the exchange, John has posted some very interesting parts of testimony from the Temple Lot case.

I've never read these transcripts, and I think they're fascinating. I especially find Melissa Willes to be sharp as a tack and positively acerbic.

From Runtu's blog:

756 Q-Did you ever have carnal intercourse with Joseph Smith? A-Yes sir.
757 Q-How many nights? A-I could not tell you.
758 Q-Do you make the declaration that you never slept with him but one night? A-Yes sir.
759 Q-And that was the only time and place that you ever were in bed with him? A-No sir.

Wow. What a horn dog. And to think, I used to publicly testify that this guy was a prophet. I'll never live that down. The shame of it will follow me for the rest of my life.

I actually am grateful to Meg Stout for getting me interested in this subject again. It's absolutely fascinating stuff. Before grindael showed me where to find the Temple Lot Case transcripts online, I hadn't read them in full. The polygamy stuff is really interesting, of course, but the RLDS had several lines of attack that were unrelated to polygamy. I'll have to write something up.

Anyway, last night I transcribed portions of Joseph Bates Noble's testimony. He was quite a character.

I keep coming back to this horrible thread. I could think of about 5K dirty jokes to use in response on this thread. Don't the people who came up with this crazy theory know what they're opening themselves up to?

Apparently, not.

So when someone says they have "carnal knowledge" of another person, does that mean that they know how much hamburger they have in their freezer?

That's like a food storage reference or something, right?
bumping this thread because i think Jersey Girl deserves an answer to her... um... hamburger storage question. and no "hide the salami" has already been suggested and isn't sufficient, so get your minds out of the gutter. :D

This goes back to my theory that a fair amount of people don’t need the truth, they just need someone in their tribe to say something, no matter how ridiculous, so they can believe ‘the issue has been addressed”. Voila - belief system good to go.

Looks like it was a sincere comment made by the Millennial Star blogger (and author of "Reluctant Polygamist"), Meg Stout.

Wowza. That level of gymnastics, unburdened by reasonable logic, can literally prove or justify anything.
