Is Joseph a liar?

Well, we could also check in on his totally believable fix of the KJV. JST Genesis 50: 31-33. (paraphrased)

"And I the lord shall raise up among you a super-duty dude. And he shall wear fruit of the looms. And some shall cause that his fruit of the looms shall be removed. And I can't say what his name will be but it will be after the name of his father, Joseph."

Survey says - Since the chances of the Morm version of Abrahams god even existing are already extremely slim, the chances that he said that to him are absolute zero.

JST Genesis 50 - https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/stu ... 0?lang=eng

Keep in mind now, God dictated this -

31 Wherefore the fruit of thy loins shall write, and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins, and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah, shall grow together unto the confounding of false doctrines, and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to a knowledge of their fathers in the latter days; and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord.

32 And out of weakness shall he be made strong, in that day when my work shall go forth among all my people, which shall restore them, who are of the house of Israel, in the last days.

33 And that seer will I bless, and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded; for this promise I give unto you; for I will remember you from generation to generation; and his name shall be called Joseph, and it shall be after the name of his father;

Faithful Mormons like Bill are stuck having to answer to us, the skeptics, "why would God choose a liar to bring about the Restoration?"
In 1957 cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was launched into space. A month later LDS apostle Joseph Fielding Smith prophesized that man would never go into space. Was this the restoration or an example of the LDS bubble keeping the Brethren information free?
I thought, my memory off? I checked Wikipedia, sputnik 1 (unmanned)10-4-57 and Yuri Gagarin first person orbited earth 4-12-61. The apostle was not so much missing information as foresight.

One wonders why he felt impressed to give any comment on it at all. The Lord told him a lie?

Some revelations are of God: some revelations are of man: and some revelations are of the devil
And not a single person has the epistemology to tell the difference between any of them.

You are right. A senior moment for me. Sputnik was launched in 1957 and was the event that brought the International Geopolitical Year to the attention of the world public.

Gagarin became the first man in space in April 1961. A month later in 1961, Joseph Fielding Smith had this to say:
Joseph Fielding Smith wrote:We will never get a man into space. This earth is man's sphere and it was never intended that he should get away from it. The moon is a superior planet to the earth and it was never intended that man should go there. You can write it down in your books that this will never happen.
Fielding Smith knew the moon was white and delightsome because he could see it for himself in the night-time sky. You can't fool such Seers, Prophets, and Revelators. The likelihood they would make up stuff is roughly equivalent to apologists doing the same thing.

Yuri Gagarin was such a big thing in Russia, that they have plaques in front of places he stayed.
