This was nine years before the civil rights act and was at a time when the LDS Hospital had to reassure the Saints that they were not mixing the colored and white blood supplies. The Saints knew that if that line was crossed, they could not enter the Celestial Kingdom (except as a servant, according to Mark E. Peterson).

President Monson's biographer, Heidi Swinton, performed some conjectural emendation on that passage. She wrote:
After President Monson had served for two years in the stake presidency, as the neighborhood gave way to further commercial ventures and the family environment deteriorated, he and Frances again wanted to look for a home in a more suitable area. Tom asked Elder Mark E. Petersen of the Quorum of the Twelve, who directed the Deseret News and its Press, if it were “unfair” for him to consider moving. Elder Petersen thoughtfully responded, “Your obligation to that area is concluded.”

This follows a history of G.A. types moving next to each other in SLC. I think a lot of them live in N. SLC/Bountiful now. When I was growing up, most lived within the East High School boundary or in the lower avenues area, very close to the Temple in the West High School boundary. However, them gays started to flood the avenues and our heros started to move to where they are today.
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.
