At Olive Garden last night the server asked if I were celebrating any special occasion.

I told her I was celebrating Smithmas, the birthday of the Prophet Joseph Smith and founder of the Mormon Church.

I am much freer in expressing the tenets of my former religion than when I was a TBM.

Oddly enough, they never once brought religion up except to ask if I'd like to give prayer. Then we ate, Dear LORD we ate. may this lady was just an awesome cook, but at this point I'm pretty sure the CLDS operates a clandestine facility teach all their ladies to cook like Catholic grandma's.

It’s fun at first but it quickly starts to feel saccharine, superficial, and forced in my opinion.

Once you really get to know the Mormon families then they finally drop the facade and tell you how much it hurts that their gay daughter won’t be in the celestial kingdom with them. It’s incredibly difficult for them once their lives start to deviate from the perfect ideal they like to project.
