John Dehlin wasn't a real Mormon

Current TBMs need to do everything they can to disparage former active members that have left. It causes horrible cognitive dissonance and challenges their precious "testimony." THis has been goi ng on forever. "OH they never really had a testimony" blah blah blah.

And then it leads to segregation steps being taken (shunning) by the one remaining as a TBM of the departed Mormon. The insulation, keeping the TBMs from the erosive effects of being around ex-Mo's, is essential to keeping their testimony.

More and more I hate the damned LDS Church.

Inside he was just a ravening wolf ready to come out. As soon as he got uncovered through the priesthood-powered discernment of the apostleship he couldn't hide it any longer.

Nowadays if members ever tell me I never really believed or never really was a Mormon I decided I'll just take it as a compliment.

It seems to me that somebody who publicly declares that there is probably no God, who is publicly agnostic as to even the mere historical existence of an actual Jesus of Nazareth, who publicly asserts that the concept of a redeeming divine atonement is nonsense (to choose just three illustrative items) may, arguably, not be a believer. And if that person has also been excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (as, in fact, John Dehlin was in 2015) it seems pretty accurate to describe him as being (in 2016) a “purported Latter-day Saint.” Mr. Dehlin was no longer “a liberal member of the Church” in 2016. In fact, even calling him a “nominal Latter-day Saint” during that period simply wouldn’t have been accurate.

The author of the blog article from my opening post can’t even bother to get basic facts right. He whinges on about how Dehlin wasn’t a Mormon anymore in 2016 when the article was written. Dehlin was excommunicated in 2015, after all.

Except the article was written in 2011. Oops.

Timeframes are somewhat fluid for Mormons. For instance, they had Egypt/The African Continent being undiscovered and still underwater when Ham's daughter arrived to populate it with dark-skinned people.

And I've seen this particular angry online Mormon speak this way about many of his fellow Mormons - doubting their sincerity.

They probably think that Dehlin never had a real spiritual testimony.
