Goodbye Gemli. Thanks For the Laughs And Memories.

Post by Everybody Wang Chung »

Well, it looks like DCP finally banned the affable and long-suffering Gemli. DCP and Gemli's last exchange was 30 days ago and Gemli hasn't posted since:

FDH: "I wish Brother gemli all the best...but that doesn’t mean I am willing to read his repetitive nonsense on your blog. It turns out that was my resolution for 2022 and my life has only been better for it this year."

I can only imagine.

But his act has grown deadly dull, and I'm probably going to opt out fairly soon.

Please, gemli. Don't force my hand. Try to resist the urge to post one-liners. Concentrate on substance and on real engagement with evidence and arguments.

Gemli forced DCP to ban him? Good grief. Without Gemli posting there, what's the point of ever visiting that cesspool? Maybe an occasional gander to see what Louis Midgley is up to? Or, to see what new article DCP has plagiarized? No thanks.

Goodbye Gemli and good riddance Sic et Non.

They’re both much better for it. Dan can have his echo chamber and gemli can regain his mental sanity.

Anyone who spends that much time on SeN surely has significant brain damage.

DCP is about to hit 35,000 total comments made by himself on his own blog. Imagine the books he could have written with all that free time…

Hilarious! I wonder how many people have left the church as a direct result of those angry 35,000 personal attacks?

I was surprised to learn a few weeks ago, that a hardcore TBM that used to post on Sic et Non left the church in large part to DCP's online behavior (lying, obfuscation and personal attacks) at Sic et Non. His username was Gilgamesh.

I imagine there are many more just like Gilgamesh. Keep up the good missionary work DCP!

PS I'm shocked that after thousands of comments from DCP, kiwi57 and others, that Gemli didn't join the church. Oh well, I'm sure the contact Gemli had on Sic et Non with DCP left him with a great impression of the church and its defenders.

That guy is not a true Mormon. He could have done many things for the LDS church and others. Doesn't he have a church calling? That guy spends thousands of hours defending the church but doesn't do anything for the church. How pathetic.

He’s a relic of a bygone era.

When nasty apologetic Bible bashing with evangelicals was en vogue. You could use homophobic slurs in Elders Quorum with wanton abandon. You could discuss in primary school how the native Americans would one day receive white skin. You could defend the church’s exclusion of black members from getting married in the temple. They weren’t as valiant in the pre-existence, you know.

And you could rest assured that your opponent wouldn’t know as much as you did - the Internet hadn’t yet created that little stumbling block for apologetics yet.

The past couple weeks DCP has been whinging about nefarious forces stifling diversity of thought and opinion. He still hasn’t realized it’s perfectly fine to have those outdated bigoted opinions- you just won’t be shielded from criticism any longer.

Good, Lord. Since he can’t get his ‘fighting randos on the Internet’ fix he went to Newsweek to make an ass of himself and to smear his church’s reputation:

You’ll have to scroll down to the comments. It’s really something.

I'm going to have to side with DCP on this. Assuming the conversations with her leaders took place after June 08, 1978, he (DCP) is correct.

Did you read all the back and forth in the comments?

DCP from the Newsweek comments:
During my tenure as a bishop in the Church, I happily sent at least two "mixed race" couples to the temple for marriage.
You have to wonder if for the other mixed-race couples he grudgingly allowed to get married in the temple. I was happy to send Ginny and Jim, but you two....I mean I guess you're passing the questionnaire but let's be honest cursed is likely the final outcome of this here union. At least I got 2 weirdo mixed-race unions I can endorse under my belt. I love keeping these numbers handy in case anyone says something negative about the Church.

He's so fun.
