It takes a particular kind of malice to come up with the "the Mormons did it" theory of Joseph's murder, and I've got a pretty good idea of where that might come from.

I'm inclined to agree. I don't often or lightly invoke the Devil as an explanation for specific contemporary events, but, well, this seems as good a candidate for a Satanic undertaking as anything I've seen lately: Evil speaking of the Lord's anointed, undercutting the authority of the living prophets and apostles, discrediting the restored Church, leading otherwise committed believers out of the fellowship of the Saints and away from the ordinances of the Lord's House and the redemption of the dead, neutralizing member-missionaries, and so on and so forth. It's a pretty effective and multifaceted weapon against some, at least, of the very elect.

It seems BYP, RFM, John Dehlin, Mormon Discussions, Bill Reel, and on and on are having a real impact.

Week after week they're exposing the "lord's anointed" and it's been crickets from apologists in response. All it takes is a TBM listening to one of those episodes, and they get lost in the rabbit hole of lie after lie from almost every single top church leader.

As a long time observer of Mormonism I can say there is a concerted effort to withstand the google apostasy. Mormonism live is weapons grade Mormon Stories and with the recent kerfuffle with Bill Reel and Rick Bennett things are getting heated in the heartland.
