For those who don’t remember this case, here is a summary:

She states, "We were on a family vacation and an unexpected situation happened with our grandson..was...uh all of a sudden stopped breathing and we lost him." It appears the Bonnie Cardon was present at the death of her grandchild but seems to forget to mention all of the circumstances surrounding the death she is describing including the fact that the medical examiner determined the death was a homicide and the fact that her daughter-in-law was arrested for Aggravated Child Abuse.
The two year old grandson of a former mission president and Sr. Director for Domo and his wife Bonnie Cordon who was a General Authority as a second counselor in the General Primary Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the time ends up dead in a Florida hospital while on vacation with his family. An investigation determines that the child's death was a homicide due to being violently shaken by his mother. The child's parents (whose father is a lawyer) are questioned and it was determined that after shaking the crying toddler to get him to stop crying the mother realizes the two year old toddler is no longer breathing. Despite there being a registered nurse with the vacationing party, the parents do not seek help from the nurse, they do not call 911, they do not seem to wake the Cordon's but instead the mother puts the baby who is in cardiac arrest in her vehicle alone and drives the baby to the hospital while the husband stays behind. After the death of the child is investigated by the medical examiner and determined to be a homicide, the State Attorney in Florida (a state in which the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the largest private landholder) remarkably determines that no charges will be pursued.
A google search of this death yields absolutely no news article on this death and it does not seem to be reported by any Utah or Florida newspapers with the exception of the child's obituary which indicates simply that the child passed away. Although the mother was charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and arrested the charges seem to have been mysteriously dropped. There appears to have been no trial to determine the state of mind of the mother or any other legal proceedings that can be found through a google search of the incident and the State Attorney ends up not pursuing the one charge that was made against the mother. These charges were not pursued despite the Child Protection teams findings that "The case met the criteria for out of control as the mother's impulsive and violent actions and the father's inaction has led to Derek's death." The report also states the case is "very high risk" while everything around it is redacted.
Where is Michael Rezendes when you need him? There are a lot of questions that need to be answered in this case. Why were no charges pursued in this homicide case? Why was the case considered very high risk? If the Cordon's were present at the death of this child why weren't these details shared in the story? Was Kirton and McConkie notified of this incident at which a member of the General Relief Society was at the site of a homicide involving her grandson? Did they provide any legal services or refer any other law firm to handle this case? Did they provide any legal advice to the Cordon's? Who was the State Attorney in the case? Was he/she pressured by any outside source to not pursue any charges in this case? If so, who? Why doesn't this story seem to have been reported on by any newspaper in Florida or Utah? This would seem to be a case worthy of a news story if ever there was one. Is this a case of wealthy, white people getting away with a crime that every other person would have been charged with? Did the church or it's lawyers intervene on behalf of the Cordon family?
There are certainly a lot of unanswered questions here. It seems to me for the child's sake this story should be investigated more thoroughly.
