To commemorate the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will conduct only sacrament meetings in wards and branches on Easter Sunday, April 9, with worship services — including messages and music — to center on the Savior.

That directive came in a First Presidency letter — signed by President Russell M. Nelson and his counselors, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring — sent Wednesday, Feb. 15, to Church leaders worldwide.

I’m saddened that “Praise to the Man” will no longer be sung on Easter Sunday in 3rd hour priesthood session. This really isn’t your grandfather’s LDS church anymore.

It's interesting to note the confession inherent in this announcement - that normal Sacrament Meetings don't centre on Christ, and that the additional Sunday meetings are actually a distraction from Christ. It's quite the admission.

But just you remember young man, the ONLY way to Jesus is through Joseph Smith. If it's good enough for Brigham, it's good enough for Mormons. Lets not get lost and lose celestial glory by focusing on the wrong chap. I have my Jupiter Talisman so I can almost feel the rays of sunshine and Holy Ghost from Jesus.

Pretty sure I come up on the opposite end of the opinion spectrum on this. I look forward to the day when all religion drops Jesus from their worship. It’s a silly idea that doesn’t help anyone and only hurts. If the Mormon church fazes out Jesus, I’d be happy to see it. by then it’d be no religion at all, perhaps, and might be on to something useful.
