It's also interesting that the Church edits out just how eager that prophet of the Lord was to see that change in his lifetime. He said (omitted from the LDS website):

EL_9wsuWoAEbhVW.png

"I want to live to see that day, if the Lord will spare my life."

That's how important it was to the Lord's anointed that he bring about the end of tithing settlement. The end of temple requirements. And the beginning of a 100% voluntary tithe.

We now know that no hoard of money is sufficiently large enough for the LDS church to stop pulling 10% of the wealth out of each and every faithful Mormon family.

How the church has changed.
Of course we ought to keep in mind that the prophets may be able to see down the road…

I honestly try to be. How about you?

I trip up here and there. So far I've managed to not lie about my wealth, or intentionally dishonestly filled out legal forms. So, I guess there's that.
Lemme guess, you probably haven't protected any sexual predators either, have you??

He felt it was so imminent that he might live to see it. That was over 100 years ago.

If that's not a sign of apostasy, I don't know what is.

“Seeing down the road” =‘s lying, omitting, and obfuscating. Baked in since Day 1.

Those ellipses ( ...) in the church lessons are dead giveaways to something they don't want you to see.

I'm honestly surprised they don't just omit them altogether, why not lean fully into the deception?

President Nelson also said tithing can break cycles of poverty in poor nations and families.

"We preach tithing to the poor people of the world because the poor people of the world have had cycles of poverty, generation after generation," he said. "That same poverty continues from one generation to another, until people pay their tithing."

The law of the tithe was followed by ancient peoples as taught by Old Testament prophets. LDS faithful believe God restored the law and its blessings for those who follow it by giving one-tenth of their income to the church.
Today I learned that world poverty can only be ended once all the poor people in the world contribute to the Ensign Peak fund.

I think it would be useful to go into some of these Third World countries, and other places where people are not blessed materially and talk to individual people and families, and ask them whether or not they believe they are being blessed, in one way or another, by obedience to the law of tithing.

Oh wait, you can find many of those testimonials in books and online if you go looking for them. It sounds like you’re saying, correct me if I’m wrong, that destitute parts of the world will be ‘healed’ as a whole through the obedience of members of the church who obey the law of the tithe?

I think President Nelson is referring more to those members of the church that live in poor countries and/or areas of the world. Although there might be a bit of ‘leaven in the lump’ that could come into play. But that would be hard to measure, right?

MG

I have no idea how you're trying to make sense out of President Nelson's nonsense lol.

But I appreciate the attempt.

I think you do. If not, your intuition and/or ability to put two and two together is lacking.
