The same thing is going on over at the MAD board. It is astounding to me what lengths some people will go to in the refence of their dear leaders.Fence Sitter wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 6:16 pmThe stupidity of MG here is overwhelming. They were trying to hide who owned the money from public view, especially from members themselves so members would not realize how much filthy lucre its great and spacious leadership actually controlled.
This isn't about money, this is about control. Looks like it is working for rubes like MG.

You have my respect if you read through all of that crap on the MAD board. I tried (but couldn't finish) reading through one of SMAC's post. Good Lord!! Never in the history of the free world has anyone used so many words to say so little.Dr. Sunstoned wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 5:36 amThe same thing is going on over at the MAD board. DCP wisely decided not to comment at all on the biggest national story about Mormonism in years.
Instead posted some schlock about his next film.

The proprietor of SeN’s silence speaks volumes.
Is it just me or does anyone else wonder what Hugh Nibley would have to say about the Ensign Peak fund or the SEC fine?

Just know that the Church did nothing wrong and this can all be blamed on the SEC under the control of Satan, at least that seems to be what the MD&D board is saying. Defending the Church allows them to exist in a separate reality because of the Lying for the Lord doctrine.Everybody Wang Chung wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 5:50 amYou have my respect if you read through all of that crap on the MAD board. Re: Church comments on SEC settlement
The church is damned guilty here of misleading its members for the sake of tithing and apologists like Smac and MG 2.0 would be wise to follow DCP's lead and remain silent. It'll be out of the public conversation soon enough even though the memory of it will live on with some.
The conclusion to be reached is that yet again the leaders are acting as ordinary men pretending to be inspired. Time to leave.

I had dinner with a Republican business-type friend of mine last night. I thought it was interesting that he didn't think too much about this. Of course, he is not a big fan of the SEC, but I was waiting for him to rib me about my former religious association, and he was unfazed by the whole thing.

Pogi is somewhat nuanced depending on the topic.malkie wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 2:05 amI'm surprised at pogi's comments - or perhaps I'm just misremembering pogi? Yep. Just go over to Mormon Dialogue and read the thread on this.

Agree. Parts of that thread are really worth reading. Analytics and Tribe are showing exactly what this judgement entails and how it impacts the church. I would suggest just skimming through the rest and reading their posts.Everybody Wang Chung wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 5:50 amYou have my respect if you read through all of that crap on the MAD board. I stopped reading anything SMAC writes a long time ago. He sees himself as this white knight defender whose job it is to respond to anything he considers critical of the church. I have to wonder if his RL job realizes how much personal time he spends during the workday composing his ridiculous verbose responses.
