Is this still a thing within Mormon culture? The new Harry Potter game is extremely popular, I wonder if any Mormon children are being restricted from playing it by their parents?
I found a surprising amount of things were considered taboo in Mormon culture back in the day. Playing cards, tarot cards, anything to do with magic.
It seems there was a real fear of these things being a gateway for Satan to enter your life. Obviously that was true for me, as I’m here now.

I've personally never seen any aversion to Harry Potter amongst LDS friends/family. On the contrary, the books in particular seem to be pretty popular.

Well, based on J.K. Rowling's latest comments attacking the LGTBQ community, Mormon parents might be encouraging their children to play Hogwarts: Legacy.
It's the Chick-fil-A effect. Chick-fil-A's profits boomed after it came out against gay marriage. Lot's of Republicans and Mormons started eating more at Chick-fil-A to show their support.

I remember after the Chick-fil-A policy against LGBTQ became known, the drive-ins in Utah experienced quadrupled volume business. Hate sells in Utah.Everybody Wang Chung wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 12:15 amLot's of Republicans and Mormons started eating more at Chick-fil-A to show their support.

I don't think they want magic and the Holy Ghost/priesthood/the religion in general linked in any way because the next step for some is to realize it's all make-believe.
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

Is the media itself magical? The more you know, I guess.

Being afraid of Harry Potter was more of a pastime for evangelicals from what I've seen.
But I do have a Mormon aunt who thinks that poker cards (or as she calls them "face cards") are evil.
