Backyard Professor Accepts Challenge of New Mormon Apologetic on the Book of Abraham

I accept the challenge to respond to the new efforts of Mormon apologists to re-contextualize the Book of Abraham in order to demonstrate its authenticity. I anticipate this new series to get up into the 60-100 number of videos, with some deep dives into the evidence, analysis of historical use and logic, doctrine, and story leading to many videos potentially being 4-6 hours long.

Book of Abraham critics are ready for whatever the apologists can throw. Bring it on! We will take them on and dismantle them. In the meantime, the apostles continue to hide like cowards and dare not speak up. The apostles of Mormonism wouldn't know what a revelation was if one were to bite them on the ass. Those guys are brain dead and have sold their souls. Mormon apostles are the worst of the worst.

But with that said, I do believe there are many good and decent Mormons who are trying to live good lives. I used to be one of them! Same as you! But the apostles are beyond the pale. They really are scum of the earth and have a lot to answer for.

On their end it’s carnival barking and misdirection. The bottom line is if the Book of Abraham were true they’d simply reverse translate the book back into Egyptian. It can’t be done in any Egyptian from any era much less the Egyptian from the era the papyri were produced.

That is a point I shall mention, thanks!

An attempt by Gee to reverse translate the five chapters of the Book of Abraham into hieroglyphic script would only serve to show how ridiculous it would be for monotheistic Abraham to record by his own hand religious doctrine and concepts using Egyptian characters. The Egyptian language is based on themes and images that attribute praise to the gods who reign in heaven and preside over earth through the incarnation of the Egyptian king!

Also, in order for Gee to correctly produce or simulate a name for an Egyptian king representing the characters of Fig. 2 in Facsimile 3, he would have to include the oval Cartouche which is standard fare in encircling a royal name. That is something Joseph Smith was not aware of when he ignorantly published his inspired (given by revelation) Explanations for the vignette in Times and Seasons. Had Smith known that names for Egyptian kings were ALWAYS written within an oval Cartouche, he would not have ascribed the person of Fig. 2 (Isis) as being "King Pharaoh." Thus we see that the Explanation given therein is DOA. Nothing, absolutely nothing can salvage Smith's false interpretation. The Mormons were wrong and they collectively as a church believed the lie.

I think John Gee and I can agree on that. The apologists have a weak argument in blaming the engraver (Reuben Hedlock) for poor characters but they can't blame him for leaving out a Cartouche because there wasn't one on the original papyrus! And that in and of itself wipes out Smith's explanation that the writing contains a king's name. Smith's explanations were uninspired and totally wrong.


PS. Philo, take mind that you are being schooled and well trained by master Shulem. I think I will paste this post up in the king's name thread because it adds further content and quality to that thread.
