You stand in a great semi-circle and the priest recites:

Oh sages, standing in God's holy fire
Come from that holy fire, pern in a gyre
And be the singing masters of my soul

Pele porter, pele stout, pele lager, pele ale!

Gazooma, gazooma, Kuray Pulauo
Gazooma, gazooma, Okay Oh wow!

Vast images of spiritus mundi appear and you may now channel.

Hope that helps.

Given how many supernatural notions permeate most religions, including Mormonism, why do they chafe at 'magic'?
I just tried to find an exchange a few years back between Gemli and DCP where Gemli slightly poked fun at DCP's magic underwear. DCP completely lost it. Full on meltdown from DCP. He spent the next 10-15 posts telling his readers how stupid and ignorant Gemli was. Gemli then sincerely asked DCP to explain how his underwear protected him if it wasn't because of magic. Priceless exchange, but it looks like DCP deleted the whole thing.

It's astonishing, because that actually was what many early Mormon leaders said about the garment. Why does that disturb a man who actually believes in dowsing??? let alone magic seer rocks which translate ancient metal plates???   Or Smith's handkerchief which someone was healed by???   Or anointing with blessed oil to heal???   For being so upset about magic, the magic believer really is very inconsistent isn't he...

Or Smith's handkerchief which someone was healed by???
That's a new one for me. Please elaborate.
Apologists try to shill an explanation to questioning members as though science and reason really explain and buttress their professed faith. It [sic] does not. By definition, faith is the antithesis of science and reason. Apologetics is a further deception by faith peddlers to keep power and influence.

Dr. Peterson is erupting with indignation over your claim, SP Wang Chung. Check it out:
I’m being accused over at the Peterson Obsession Board of having deleted a lengthy exchange, including ten or fifteen posts in which I supposedly assaulted this blog’s stunningly dogmatic resident atheist commenter, “gemli, as “stupid” and “ignorant.” Presumably, I deleted it because I found it somehow embarrassing. Now, it’s absolutely the case that I believe gemli to be — by conscious choice — remarkably and determinedly ignorant of the subjects on which he presumes to comment here, but I have never called him “stupid” and I don’t believe him to be so. Much more importantly, I remember no such exchange and I’m quite confident that I’ve never deleted any of gemli’s comments nor ever deleted a lengthy exchange of comments here, whether with gemli or with anybody else. The accusation was leveled by an individual who routinely invents malicious fictions about me (some of them quite elaborate) for his eagerly credulous audience. As is commonly the case with him, it’s flatly false.
Quite interesting. I guess DCP finds it objectionable that someone would claim that he described someone else as "stupid"? But calling someone "ignorant" is somehow better, I guess? (And remember: this is someone who once defended FARMS's activities by saying that "stupid books deserve to be ridiculed.") Regardless, his treatment of gemli *is* abhorrent. Just yesterday he erupted with, like, several dozen stridently angry comments all aimed an gemli--it's like he was blowing off a lot of built-up steam. Like he needed to get his Mopologetic "fix."

DCP is taking the coward's way out. He lets Midgley do the name-calling, which he leaves up on his blog.

If Peterson would stop letting Midgley attack people so crudely, his protestation that he'd never called gemli 'stupid' might mean something. He's let this go on for years however, always allowing Midgley's lie-filled, rabidly out of control and childish attacks to stand, on a blog he alone controls.

If contention were of the devil, why are the most contentious comments sections the most popular ones on dowsin’ Dan’s blog? I guess he’s an agent of Satan? Whatever the case may be, I rarely check in in on his blog; but I’m always surprised how often he’s quoted as having visited this forum only to get outraged (Satan wins again, I guess) and post a tantrum or two. He’s obviously a joke, and has curated his blog to be an echo chamber so some dupes can tell him how great he is. He only keeps gemli around because he’s fine with his forum regulars ganging up on him … contentiously. So, the Devil wins again. Guess Russell M. Nelson holds no sway over their hearts!

I found it ironic that he asked Gemli where to he draws the line on sexual activity when his founding prophet set up one of the most elaborate swingers club in the frontier time period.

This comment explains exactly why Peterson attacks gemli and others from his safe perch but never ventures into reality:

Peterson enjoys "punching down" on the commenters to his blog. Engaging with the posters here would be "punching up" and potentially expose him to great personal and professional embarrassment.
His refusal to comment when Hamblin was getting his butt kicked by Jenkins was when Peterson fully showed his true colors: A yellow streak that lasted until Jenkins stopped posting.

Whoa. Peterson equates what legally married same-sex couples do with incest, pedophilia, infidelity, orgies, public group sex, suicide, and sado-masochism.
gemli: " What can't same-sex couples do in predominantly Mormon communities, without being censured or excommunicated?"

We do, it is true, have standards for sexual behavior for those who belong to our voluntary association.

Do you have no standards for sexual behavior? Do you draw no lines? Are you perfectly fine with incest, sex with children, infidelity, polyamory, public orgies, and the like? I hope not.

My standards are based the wishes of consenting adults, and on not taking advantage of other people, or people who are not able to give thoughtful consent. Religion doesn't enter into it.

gemli: "My standards are based the wishes of consenting adults, and on not taking advantage of other people, or people who are not able to give thoughtful consent."

So extramarital affairs and public group sex (involving adults) and incest are okay in gemli-world, right? And suicide and assisted suicide (for any reason at all, or for no particular reason at all)? And sado-masochism?

But he's upset someone said he called gemli 'stupid'. Unbelievable.
