“DP” wrote: I think that that the lack, thus far, of any children from Joseph Smith by any woman other than Emma Smith strongly suggests that the perpetual orgy that some of his critics have depicted for him is fictional. We know that he was capable of fathering children -- Emma was pregnant at the time of his murder -- but there seem, at this point, to be no children from any other woman
What's good for Brigham Young was also good for Joseph Smith because Joseph Smith was Brigham Young's mentor. Brigham Young had sex with lots of women and had lots of babies. I'm sure this would have made Joseph Smith proud!
Marriage & sex go hand in hand and babies are the end result for the New and Everlasting Covenant in which Smith practiced.
Mormon 9:32 wrote:And now, behold, we have written this record according to our knowledge, in the characters which are called among us the reformed Egyptian, being handed down and altered by us, according to our manner of speech.
What do you think about John Carter of Mars writing about the Barsoomian language?
This sentence tells nothing at all to the only people who could understand it at all. Anyone who could read it would necessarily already know what it is saying, without having to read it. So who would write such a message on metal plates?
The verses about how the Book of Mormon was written in Reformed Egyptian give the game away. No book actually written in Reformed Egyptian would include a statement saying so.
In a review on Tamas Mekis book by John Gee he wrote:
"Just as the evidence left from the past often leaves itself open to multiple interpretations, so also multiple methodologies may be used to examine and analyze that evidence. The researcher must make choices about which legitimate methods to use. Different methods sometimes yield different results.”9 For this reason, any modern interpretation of the meaning of the figures and texts contained on hypocephali should always leave room for the possibility of a plurality of approaches.10"
Oh the irony!
Gee has led the charge against faithful Mormon scholars who dare to challenge his views of the Book of Abraham.
Take your own advice Gee.
This is a common tactic for believers in pseudoscience and conspiracy theories. They believe that the evidence-based majority must tolerate their incoherent and contradictory beliefs, but people who dissent within the conspiracy community are not to be tolerated.
It's not a coherent intellectual or moral framework, but it works for people who are trying to monetize falsehoods.
Why is it important for some people to believe that Smith did not have sex with anyone but Emma?
I don't get it.
There are two things regarding this. How in the world does it sweeten the deal if Joseph lets you have your wife for now but he gets her for eternity? And you don't have to marry someone to not have sex with them.
Maybe the gold plates were just a catalyst. They were actually just a Mesoamerican flatbread recipe. They were taken away to heaven because in the Americas, copywrites were eternal.

Nice catch. Yet another reason to disbelieve the claims the Book of Mormon was of ancient origin. Also, more evidence that Mormons, while nice people for the most part, are a little delusional when it comes to Mormon church claims.
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.
