In 2020, ABC News reported that it had found 54 examples of Trump inspired violence by citizens, while being unable to find a single comparable example involving Obama or George W. Bush. And in the ensuing three years, the total has grown. This man, sadly, was one more.

The term used to describe what's happening is stochastic terrorism -- like expressing the wish to be rid of that troubling priest. It is something the law has yet to come to grips with. Incitement has an immediacy requirement that is rarely present in stochastic terrorism. The incendiary speaker lights the fuse, but doesn't know exactly which fuse they lit or how long the fuse is. But, statically, it's virtually certain that some bomb will go off at some time.

Osama bin Laden didn't execute 9/11 or pay for it. He inspired it with his rhetoric. Trump is doing the same thing -- inspiring people to violence with his rhetoric. The FBI isn't going to play perfect defense. Some major political figure will be murdered -- inspired by Trump's rhetoric.

It wasn’t until after the family did their morning prayers that they learned that Robertson had been shot.
