Witnesses claim 60-70lbs. Apologist calculates almost 100lbs for pure gold plates.
The apologist claims with his math that the highest gold content possible is about 10 percent. The plates must have been copper base with 10 micron gold plating.
The apologist even goes into the oxidation depletion substrate rate… check out the math, it’s really hilarious.
All of these physical science calculations done for magic plates that were magicked up to heaven… and not even used during the translation process. Which wasn’t even a translation.
OMG! This was beyond ridiculous. I was sitting in the temple Celestial room a couple of weeks ago during Ward Temple Night, dressed in absurd temple garb and I had the same feeling of complete and utter ridiculousness that I felt listening to Boylan. Good Lord! These are grown men discussing this silly crap. Incredible.
World class athlete and Olympic champion, Mark Schultz, was on the Backyard Professor's podcast and chuckled at how impossible it would have been for Joseph to run through the forest with 60 lbs while fighting off his assailants.

John Larsen said on Mormon Stories the other day that many Indian mounds were found in the 1800s with Spanish breastplates. By grave robbers like Joseph. Turns out the Indians buried their dead with their treasure, including 1600s items from the newly arrived Europeans.
For anyone not aware of that history, like Smith, they would think breastplates would have been a common Native American item 2000 years ago.

.
"Clarity from Mormon God only comes in very critical instances like convincing Emma that Joseph needed to sleep with other women."

What about the possibility that the plates were a thin poly-substrate film covered in gold leaf? That would show the cleverness of ancient Israelite artisans and the Nephites who copied their methods. It makes sense from an apologetic point of view: Thin and light, but powerful enough to bonk any Palmyra miscreant harassing Joseph on the noggin. Plus, they could easily be transported back to the Kolobian Ring-World, via Kli-flos-is-es, when the translation was complete.

You can’t make this crap up. Or maybe you can!
I made it about 45 seconds in and nearly died of boredom. Boylan has to be the most uninspiring person to ever try his hand at poscasting. Even druming up fake drama with a much larger channel doesn't seem to have helped. After two years of running his podcast Boylan has 1200 subscribers. Mopologetics is dying a hilarious death thanks to stodgy people like Boylan.
The plates are just another one of many comical black eyes for the church. Smith clearly lied. The plates never existed.
