I wonder how Mrs Peterson feels about her husband scrolling through monthly porn mags, ogling the women pictured, and declaring them to be, in his opinion, perfect?
Question, I find it puzzling that you would imagine Peterson doing any such thing. I think it very unlikely.

The Playboy centerfold is a clichéd reference to superficial perfection. I am sure he is referencing false perfection and not what he is seeking. Perhaps the clichéd reference was more common in the past when the magazine had a larger social footprint.

It's a slippery slope. I remember not too long ago, DCP was hitting the Like button for, "J. Lo Makes Pitbull Get a Boner/Hot Booty Shaking" videos on Facebook. Now, it appears his prurient tastes have turned to Playboy.

DCP, I really think it's time to consider joining the Sons of Helaman program to overcome your addiction/pornography challenges.
At the Sons of Helaman program, you will acquire tools and learn various strategies required to win your self-mastery battles. https://sonsofhelaman.org/

“…they fought for their lives, and for their wives, and for their children; therefore they exerted themselves and like dragons did they fight.”
(Mosiah 20:11)

Good luck, DCP. Remember, you are not only fighting for your eternal soul, you are fighting for your life, your wife and your children.

One might wonder who actually has the prurient minds/interests.

Greetings, Friends and Colleagues.

Sometimes there are moments in Mopologetics that really make you scratch your head in bafflement. I don't know about you, but I didn't think I would see the day that an article in "Mormon Interpreter" used the pornographic magazine Playboy to make an apologetic point. And yet, here it is, in Daniel C. Peterson's "Signals of Trancendence." Granted, the reference is buried in an endnote, but still. DCP makes this point in the main text:
Yet there is a natural human tendency to try, over and over and over again and quite in vain, to find lasting satisfaction in such things. They cannot and do not satisfy. We are never fully content, and never content for long. There is always a bigger house, greater power to be had, more money, a more desirable mate, some more intense pleasure to be sought, a faster car, more status, more prestige.
Like doing Mopologetics over and over and over, making sure that a new article is posted very single week for over a decade straight? Like that? But the passage has an endnote--Dr. Peterson evidently felt that he needed to further elaborate on his point--and it leads to this:
At the risk of offending some of my readers: I think that the monthly Playboy [sic] magazine “Playmate” illustrates this very well. The woman in the photograph is perfect. Also air-brushed, posed, and professionally photographed. No real woman — including the one in the photograph — would ever really, lastingly, satisfy. The magazine’s impresario, Hugh Hefner, had hundreds if not thousands of sexual partners.
It's hard to avoid reading between the lines here, and I can't help but wonder about Dr. Peterson's logic. For example: has Dr. Peterson eaten hundreds if not thousands of cheeseburgers? Did any of them "satisfy"? And does the fact that he ate more than one prove the point that "No burger would ever really, lastingly, satisfy"? And then there is the apparent assumption here that the point of women is to "satisfy." Quite gauche, no? There is something bothersome, too, about the "really, lastingly, satisfy" part--it's as if he's saying, "Well, okay--I'd probably have a great time banging a Playboy Playmate or two, but I'd get tired of it eventually." What to say about this? And is this really meant to support the overall point about "transcendence" and thinking about God?

Quite a bizarre and interesting entry into the annals of Mopologetics, in any case.
It’s almost Buddhist, in that he seems to be describing a simplistic version of duhkha. Although I doubt he’d see the noble eightfold path as a solution.

Hugh Nibley claimed he bumped into Adolf Hitler, Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, Gertrude Stein, and the Grand Duke Vladimir Romanoff. Dishonesty is baked into Mormonism.

Another city or country to travel to, another hotel to stay in, or another restaurant wherein to enjoy lunch with friends.
Indeed. One way of understanding "Sic et Non" is that it is a massive, continuous case study in "Do as I say, not as I do." Practically every single entry features the Proprietor doing some thing or another that violates the spirit of everything he's talking about in his "Interpreter" blog entry. Take this latest tidbit from "SeN":
But oriental carpets and kilims are very definitely one of my weaknesses. I can’t go into a carpet store or a carpet factory without falling in love with at least one carpet. We’ve bought carpets during previous visits here in the Ephesus area and in Egypt. And one of my favorites is a Tabrizi that I bought in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The trouble is that we don’t have room for any more of them. They’re on our floor, and other weavings (one even made by a relative in Norway) hang on our walls. In fact, we have more than we can display at any one time. So many carpets, so little space. And so little money. So we bought another.
LOL!!! Interesting, isn't it, how he downplays his own role in this by using "we"?

Everybody,
Your imagination sometimes meanders into the oddest prurient fantasies. Does your Peterson obsession satisfy some odd urges?

Many times I could not help but think, Peterson must have given him a bad grade in some class. (or is in unrequited love?)
