This sounds too much like a DA's argument of insidious intent and it is the third time you've posted it. Seems too trivial to obsess over. Are you feeling feisty and desire someone to pick on? Come on over to NOM and you can scrap with Binger posting as Mayan Elephant and he even has a sock puppet. Otherwise, it spoils my enjoyment to have a board assassin. Pahoran used to follow me around on the old FAIR board and it was most unpleasant.
Methinks the bird likes to dish it out, but can’t take it. This is a discussion board. You made a witticism that myself and Shades didn’t understand, and since you didn’t answer Dr. Shades earnest question in good faith, I decided to give my hot take. Since Bret Ripley purportedly understood your humor, I asked him to help us make sense of it.

> Pahoran used to follow me around on the old FAIR board and it was most unpleasant.

I’m sure it was, but rather than looking inward and asking yourself if there were any way you could make your humor more relatable, you chose to play the victim instead. Practice extreme accountability, Moksha. Your handle implies you have Buddhistic leanings, and if this is the case, then you ought to know you’re responsible for what you put out into the world, and you should own it, and then be accountable for it.

Appreciating your humor would be easier if you could give us insight to your process, and then maybe after a couple of explanations we get it, and are in on the joke.

I couldn’t agree more.

The way I see it, your (Moksha’s) attempts at humor or levity consist of posting a pastiche of randomness, equating to nonsense. I’m guessing that the people who find your posts humorous think the nonsense IS humorous.

I’m more along the lines of what DoctorCamNC4Me posted requiring humor to have a setup and a punchline to deliver a witty observation of truth or deserved ridicule. Mere randomness for its own sake simply doesn’t cut it.

But I, too, would encourage anyone who finds your posts humorous to explain the appeal to me so that I can finally get it as well.

Fun, and I’m glad some posters enjoy his humor. And since you enjoy his humor, I take it then you understand his humor. Would you be good enough to explain why this:

Do you think Smac might define his courtroom style? Some names sound fun like Tacenda or relaxing like StarGazer. Or well chosen like Juliann's moderator handle Echidna.
is funny?
I thought Smac suggested the action “to smack” someone, which seemed fitting for that particular poster. Julianne can be prickly, so Echidna also fit pretty well. I found that humorous. I dunno, maybe a few of us are just weird that way. I hope Moksha is not chased off by people who do not appreciate his humor because that would suck for those of us who do.

Do you ever think to yourself that a little levity might make this place, during times of intense venom spewing, a bit more bearable?
No, because I've had such hardships in my life that simple venom spewing on a mere message board doesn't even register on my radar. But if you find such a thing to be unbearable, may I suggest sticking to the Celestial and Super Spirit Paradise fora?
It helps me cope with the heaviness of many discussions.
Great! Then please post things that are A) on topic, and B) actually funny. See DoctorCamNC4Me's analysis for assistance.
Anyway, take a look at the title of this thread. It seems to lend itself to a lighthearted approach. Let me be nonsensical . . .
Would you mind doing so in the off-topic forum only? If that's not good enough, we can create a Moksha megathread to keep the other threads clean.
. . . and I can forgive a ton of Aspergerian ridicule.
You were never "ridiculed," much less "Aspergarian"-ly. You were simply called out for once again posting what turned out to be nonsense, contributing nothing (as is your habit).

Sometimes the hard knocks of life dampen our spirits and make us want to lash out. The admonition of the Desiderata to listen to all stories can be a guide in those times since everyone has their story. I have faced a lifetime of depression and so I like to cheer myself up through humor. I have sometimes hoped that by saying something lighter it could furnish a break whereby combatants could sheath their talons and claws.

When you restrict a board to one mindset of posters you can end up with Sic et Non. But you are the head cheese and I can tell that you prefer me to leave. I suppose any board starting out with the highest ideals can have them peter out. No speech or soup for you!

Some people get humor and some do not. One thing that assuredly detracts from humor is explaining it.
Will Kirton McConkie enlist Captain Kirk to ensure Brigham Young's housewarming party runs smoothly?
If that is what you perceive my posts to be like, with no context or meaning, then it makes sense why you would want to restrict or purge me.

Some posters get pissed off and leave when the next day they calm down and continue reposting. The poster being denigrated and pushed out is in another category altogether. I need to find another message board I suppose. I do that reluctantly because there are so many people here I enjoy reading. Where will I get my fix on Dr. Scratch, Bob Boberson, Kishkumen, Kerry, Paul, Dr. Seuss, Res Ipsa, and many more? It would be like switching from Bethesda to another video game company. Might have fun graphics, but with unfamiliar mechanics and characters. Why did Bethesda chief Todd Howard have to go over to the side of the Thalmor and Vault-Tec? Hard knocks of life and lack of humor I suppose.

Were Doc Cam and Lou Midgley whispering into Dan's ear to give him the boot? Dan has to be responsive to his constituents right?

Thank you for your explanation, and I agree the suggested restriction is not in accordance with our rules, at least as I understand them.

But if I may point out, it's not always a matter of others 'not getting the humor.' There have been times, in some serious threads, when your humor did not feel appropriate and in fact came across as exceedingly intolerant and unkind. Others obviously may disagree, and, as history shows, you have every right to post anyway, but others also have every right to point out when your sense of humor feels inappropriate to them. I mean, come on. Heckling is a time-honored part of comedy, is it not?!!! :D

Lol, the audacity of you complaining about being denigrated.

Look. You’re an older man. Much wisdom and whatnot. But I see you’re not going to own your role of some people either not getting your ‘humor’ or abhorring it for its try-hard obscure or unrelatable references. For real though, is Juliann a metaphorical hedgehog or is she a Greek monster, and what, in the “F”, did she have to do with the joke?

Anyway. I suppose denigrating people, yourself excluded obviously, is cool, so long as you’re the one doing it and yukking it up. in my opinion, you’d do well to thicken up that skin if you want to be the ‘dunking on others’ comedian. Sometimes you’re going to annoy people, and they’ll dunk on you. Lace up, Penguin. It’s basketball, and trash talking is the status quo.

Also, what the “F” are you talking about? This is such an opaque comment that it’s impossible to decipher. Explain, please.
