A happy anniversary- the death of the invaluable Neville Neville Land blog

Post by drumdude »

July 14 is fast approaching, and it is the 1 year anniversary of the last post on Mike Parker’s blog. Yes, that Mike Parker. The Hurricane Utah North Stake adult Sunday school teacher and guy who thinks casual racism is hilarious.

It turns out he only wanted to criticize Jonathan Neville from behind the cloak of anonymity. After a few weeks of blogging sans-pseudonym, he was finished. Apparently he wasn’t willing to keep making very unpleasant remarks under his own name.

Or perhaps it was the very unpleasant Richard Nygren joke that did him in.

In any case, this board won a giant victory last year. Jonathan Neville is free from being harassed by a very unpleasant individual. Mike Parker learned a very valuable lesson on the importance of acting Christlike.

And the Mopologists ended up with yet another egg on their face.

Here’s to another year and more defunct Mopologist hate blogs to come. I’m looking at you, Scriptural Mormonism!

I can help with that by doing BYP Responds videos to their materials. I wouldn't mind taking down more Mormon hate blogs and You Tube sites.

Kerry, could you also do a tribute to the Nephite powerhouse animal, the mighty Tapir?

Apologists have made it sound like holding up a cross to the forehead of Dr. Daniel Peterson and burning him with it, or placing a braid of garlic around his neck. Heck, we do not wish to do damage of that magnitude, but it would be nice if the apologists could let go of some of their superstitions and accept that the tapir is a cute little animal that proved a New World boon to Nephite transportation efforts.

Whether pulling steel chariots or allowing them to ride tapir back into battle, the tapirs had it all. How could all those heavy gold and brass plates and steel weapons be transported from Mesoamerica to the Hill Cumorah in upper New York without the tenacious power of the mighty tapirs?

Another happy anniversary approaches! I hope Mike Parker is doing well now that he is firmly out of the Mopologetic game, as it were.

April 2023
Mike Parker remains a friend. I hope that he can eventually find his way back into the line-up for our Interpreter Radio Show, from which he felt that he needed to withdraw several months ago. In the meantime, I hope and trust that he will continue to maintain the invaluable Neville-Neville Land blog.
Neither Mike “Peter Pan” Parker, nor the Interpreter Radio Show, have aged well…

Also April 2023
Recently, some thoroughly despicable—and borderline unhinged—individuals on the internet have been accusing me of being some sort of racist for purportedly pretending to be an African-American man by the name of Richard Nygren. (You can read one example of such an accusation in this screenshot from a Facebook post.)

Here is the truth about these claims:

On July 9, 2022, Robert Boylan, who runs the blog and YouTube channel Scriptural Mormonism, interviewed Spencer Kraus about Kraus’s then-recently published reviews of Jonathan Neville’s books A Man that Can Translate and Infinite Goodness.
At about the 5:20 mark in the interview, Boylan plugged Kraus’s blog, along with “Richard Nygren’s blog, Neville-Neville Land, a blog critiquing Jonathan Neville mainly but also other Heartland proponents, where he posts on the nickname ‘Peter Pan.’ Richard is one of only [a] few African-American apologists in the Church at the moment, and he lives in Birmingham, Alabama, so be sure to check those out.”
At the time of the interview, Robert Boylan knew my real identity. I asked him about the “Richard Nygren” comment, and he told me that he made it up as “a little joke to tweak Heartlanders” because of some racist remarks that had published on the FIRM Foundation’s website. “Richard Nygren” is a fictional character.
I guess the moral of the story is that you reap what you sow
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.
