Um, you do not seem to be aware that the UK Conservative Party were in power (not in opposition) for the last fourteen years, and have been in power most of the time for the last century or so. So whatever they were doing, it must have worked out pretty well for them.

I believe that Trump is more of an authoritarian and/or populist than he is a conservative.
You'd think that since there have been governments and leaders of people for so long that they would have worked out how to run a country by now.
It seems to be working for the current leadership. I doubt they care much that you are regretting your vote now. No system will ever fix the fact that people are mostly irresponsible and lazy. But you can take power by fooling them into believing there's an easy way out.
