Just found the flood zones that Cam mentioned. My sis is hovering between A and B.

Hating on this storm...

In Lee County, zones A and B are under mandatory evacuation. I think I read that free buses will be running today to take folks to shelters until the winds get too strong.

I’m glad to see you’re in a relatively good spot, man. Please post some videos of the storm; it’ll be pretty crazy.
Looks like, thankfully, it will not be so crazy for us. Fingers crossed. Right now it is raining outside, just gently, and no heavy winds.

She is with our mutual friend. I can almost guarantee that they won't leave. I'll check in and see what's going on out there.

Has anyone seen anything about animal shelters taking in both animals and their owners?

Because this is not about Mormonism, I thought I would post it in Spirit Paradise. The latest Coffee With Kish is a brief update about my storm preparation.

Came home to prepare for Milton. We are in the path of the storm but not near the coast. This is a brief update and a shoutout to Steve Pynakker, who has evacuated to find shelter. All Mormons and Mormon-interested people of Florida . . . heck, all Floridians, I wish us all luck!
Title: Bracing for Hurricane Milton
I wish you the best as well. Thanks for the update! I hope and wish that these disasters will become the wake-up call that convinces anti-scientific diehards that the climate change scientists' warnings are real and urgent. It's incredible that some diehard Maga-Ites are actually promoting the conspiracy that liberals and Democrats actually have and are using the power to directly create and direct these storms at Republican areas to hurt and even kill their perceived political enemies,

Tornado came through the area. They're hunkered down. Supposed to hit hard around midnight. My sister who doesn't drink is having a drink. They're scared with this one.

They're not leaving. Friend rescues dogs. They've got at least 3 large breed dogs and possibly the 4th is small. Not going to debate that issue here. I already vented it out with myself last night.

Hate this so much.

ETA: Good news for my sis. I checked the elevation of our friend's place. It sits at 18 feet above sea level. That's 3 feet above the highest expected surge. Think they're gonna be okay. Prayers up!

Been in touch with my sis off and on all day. If I said the house they're in was sitting at 18ft above sea level on this thread, I was wrong about the address. They're at 7 ft above sea level. Here's my favorite independent weather guy again posted 1 hour ago.
MAJOR STORM SURGE moving into Fort Myers Beach.
This is at Margaritaville facing north towards Times Square.

Venting: I have alternately prayed and sworn all day long. Either asking the Lord to provide safe passage through the storm (please don't take my sister away from me) or saying "damn this storm" anytime I lay eyes on it or reports about it. All of my people I wrote about here on whatever thread are from Jersey. They are good hearted folks who are also tough as nails. Still...this storm is scary enough to be worried.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. ~ Joshua 1:9

Easier said than done some days! I've only had my sister for 12 years.

When that really bad tornado came through here years back, I was working in the hospital. We had two different local news stations on two TVs in hospital rooms across the hall from one another. Both meteorologists said the tornado is heading for downtown Ms. Nobody’s city. It was at that moment, I had the thought that Jesus rested in the boat, and I was going to have to rest in the boat too. That’s when I walked away from watching the local weather, and just hung out with the patients in the hallway on the 4th floor of the hospital. It hit several miles away and was devastating.

Rest in the boat, Jersey.
