I'm still alive and kicking, obviously, but I've been preoccupied with other things. Mostly I've been browsing the internet, and listening to, studying and practicing the songs I need to learn for this season's performances of the Chorale groups I sing with. I'm sorry I missed your birthday greetings to me. :(

I am feeling pretty low right now because of today's election results. I have little doubt that Trump will ruin our democracy and become the absolute dictator he aspires to be. He is probably going to do his best to curtail and censor freedom to express and support any political views he disagrees with and establish a tyrannical theocracy. Fox News or some other ultra-conservative news and media will probably become the only permitted source of news and public information. He will try to suspend the U.S. Constitution and violate at will our first amendment rights and other rights we now enjoy He will control or try to gain absolute control of all three branches of our government and eliminate all the checks and balances established by our Constitution. He, in effect, will own the Supreme court because of the extreme right-wing justices he managed to appoint.

I'm seriously fear for this country and my children and grandchildren in the next few years. His Supreme Court Justices that he appointed have already ruled that, as President, he is entitled to immunity from prosecution for any illegal act he wants to do. Is there any doubt that he will strive for full implementation of Project 2025 as soon as he can?

The only bright spot is that he is old and apparently in poor health, and will likely die before he can manage to somehow to make himself dictator for life. But then, J.D. Vance will become President, and he will probably be as bad or worse than Trump!

Dear Herr Gunnar,

I'm writing to ask you where you are. First, you missed my 25 year anniversary of posting online on October 14th. TWENTY FIVE years, Gunnar. And who was my first ever post a reply to? Some guy named Gunnar. Some nowhere-to-be-seen guy named Gunnar.

Secondly, you didn't show up on your birthday. So...where are you? You're supposed to be here. I'm supposed to be able to look at the board before I go to bed and see you here and read your most recent post. It's a rule. It's a ritual. It's a requirement.

I actually demand it at this point.

You can't rightly expect me to be here and then go to sleep without my ritual, can you? Do you think that's fair? No, it is not. It's supposed to be...read Gunnar, pray, then go to sleep. That's how it goes and pretty much how it has gone (except for a few gaps) for what? TWENTY FIVE YEARS.

Except on Wednesdays. You're never here on Wednesdays. (Feel stalked?) 8-)

I don't know where you are or if I can sleep. I may never sleep again.

Gunnar come back!!

I'm sorry if I caused you any distress by being away for so long. I will always cherish your friendship and your kindness towards me.

Is there a way to unblock Gunnar? Maybe send him a message?
I just checked. Neither his email domain nor his IP range is blocked.
Yep! I am still around and living in California. I have looked in here from time to time, but haven't felt an urgent desire to post anything lately, though I have enjoyed reading much of what I see here.

Thank you! It's always good to see you here as well. You have long been one of my favorite posters.
