Well, I think the people want populist policies and the donors don't, donors on both sides. I think this is the underlying theme and has been from as far back as I can see.canpakes wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 4:48 pmExactly that.
There will be no 50% reduction in energy costs as Trump has promised. No significant reduction in food costs. Housing prices aren’t coming down more than 10% without a recession forcing a greater reduction. None of that can be changed through Trump Administration policy. He knows that, and I suspect that a good portion of his voter base also subconsciously knows it, but the lie of all of that is a comfortable blanket, and his supporters will wrap themselves within it and embrace it. Excuses will follow, most manufactured by Trump’s donor base, to keep the Trump voter base compliant and manipulated.

Agreed.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 4:30 pmA good number of them very much want to keep transgender people out of sports. Let's not pretend that it was an enlightened pragmatism that won Trump the election. The man is going to raise prices on everything, if he gets his way. Which part of your car is not impacted by tariffs on products coming out of Asia?
As Trump cannot keep any of his economic promises, his voting base will still need to scapegoat groups of ‘others’ in order to deploy their rage about remaining economically suffering (as if folks who populated boat parades and $90K pickup parades could realistically claim to be economically suffering in the first place, lol).
Anger is the main ingredient in Trumpism and it constantly needs to find new targets. Or to continue to pound existing targets. The Trump base always complains about someone out there supposedly getting something that they don’t deserve, and that scapegoating won’t stop on Inauguration Day.

The Trump Bitcoin spike signaled the win last night, and the markets following, together, are signaling that Trump, like Nick Fuentes has said, is full of crap, and his threats are just hype because hate and absurdity sells to stupid people (as Schmo recognizes). Ajax has even suddenly decided we don't need a civil war now that he's won. thanks guys! My expectations were decently hedged, as the largest positions by far in my portfolio are bitcoin miners. The most emotional part of today for me won't be how to deal with the loss of democracy, but will the Trump bull trap continue for a few more days or do I sell now?drumdude wrote:He isn’t saying anything new. I know it consciously. You don't get to undo the damage you did to the economy by printing an excessive amount of scamdemic stimulus checks just by voting for a new president four years later. You have to pay the price of Bidenomics whether you voted for it or not. Argentina knows that. At least we'll be going in the right direction for a while. For me it's enough to see the political prisoners freed and put an end to partisan political justice for a while. He knows that, and I suspect that a good portion of his voter base also subconsciously knows it
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

For the second time, Trump will inherit a strong economy from a Democratic administration. The first time around, he didn’t monkey with it much. This time you’ll get to see him drive it into the ditch up close and personal.ajax18 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 7:10 pmI know it consciously. But you already know that, which is why you are making advance excuses for Trump the day after the election.
