MG is only leaving to save face after he told me I didn't have a life, and I pointed out he only had 2 posts fewer than I did and has been here half as long under his current revision... I have a feeling he'll be back eventually, with his eye closely watching my post counter and will post again when he has some headroom. This could be positive, as it might encourage him to think a little bit more about what he writes.

Yeah, there have been times when I've questioned the time spent here. Overall, as I've mentioned, however, I find participation somewhat stimulating in the sense that I am able to concentrate on putting thoughts together and try to be somewhat coherent. It's a good opportunity to improve writing skills and presenting ideas.

Nowadays, that is a good thing. It's good exercise.

I'm finding also that I should have learned the lesson sooner rather than later that the 'turn the other cheek' concept is the way to go. Less time spent on replying to some of the posts meant to get a rise and/or take things in a direction that is truly a waste of time. There is no sin in letting some folks have the final word even if I'm having to take/absorb a hit.

It is true, that too many posts that I've made over time have been pretty much an exercise in futility. I need to do better at not feeding into a feeding frenzy of any sort.

Group consensus is a wonderful thing...unless you're the outlier. Then it can get rather rocky. I need to do better at not responding to naysayers and provocateurs. Lately, that's been a goal of mine and I think I'm getting better.

I remember ZLMB when it started with big majority LDS believers. A critic would get run ragged in circles. Tough emotional gauntlet.

I sympathize with MG. yes he has had failures and gone emotionally overboard at times. I hope we all grow a bit in treating those we disagree with.

I enjoyed ZLMB back in the day. I agree with you that this board needs different views. I suppose that's why my post count is rather high. There needs to be a 'counter' to the posts/opinions that generally skew in one direction.
