Anecdotally, my nephew is currently serving a Spanish-speaking mission in the US. His last email talked about how one of his recent converts was deported shortly after their baptism. Church meetings have been pretty bare bones because everyone is too afraid to go to church, and getting non-members to talk to the missionaries is pretty difficult because of the fear.
God to a Nephite Prophet wrote:There shall none come into this land save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord.
Brought to this land by the hand of the Lord, and removed from this land by the hand of an anti-Christ and his followers. How many will fail to hear the gospel of Christ because of the cult of Trump?
I wonder if MG is about to show up on this thread and sneer at anybody who says a word about the CoJCoLDS's failure to show any pity or care for its Spanish speaking brothers and sisters who are now being seized by ICE and thrown out of the country?

If the Brethren were to criticize Alligator Alcatraz, it would alienate many LDS members in the United States who dislike Hispanic members invading their country, much like Europeans dislike the presence of Muslims in Europe. Much easier to take no moral stand at all.

by the way, Trump is also in favor of renovating the Alcatraz Island prison in San Francisco Bay, but Utah could put one together in a more cost-effective manner somewhere west of Tooele. Maybe even provide some senior missionary guards.

I'm not opposed to criminals being deported. I don't know whether or not those in deportation centers after initial screening/processing are 'farm workers' (catch all for illegal migrants without a criminal record) or those that most of us would want off the streets or in our own neighborhoods. Farm workers, and the like, should be treated more humanely...whatever that might look like.

But not to prisons outside of the United States. They should either self deport or moved through the asylum process expeditiously. In the meantime rather than 'catch and release' they should to be held in confinement. After all, they have broken US immigration law. Time and expenditure has already been spent to find them and bring them into custody.

I have no reason to think that church leaders would speak out in this specific case. They have already spoken in regards to how these folks should be treated if they end up in our wards and neighborhoods.

I can't speak for Chap. But for myself, maybe not a seer but a lesson in profound ignorance and lack of self-awareness.

In Matthew 5:38–39, Jesus wrote:You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. Then proudly announce to the world that you have done so, so everyone knows how righteous you are.
OK, I have to admit that I added the last sentence myself.

Do you agree that any Mormons living in Missouri between 1838 and 1976 should have been forcibly removed?

Isn't it a bit of a problem that, without due process, you can't distinguish between undocumented immigrants with no criminal record, and criminals. Heck (more colourful language suppressed), ICE doesn't even seem to be able to distinguish either of these categories from legal residents (e.g., green card holders, or other protected groups) and citizens?

What if, as has happened to others, MG-with-a-suntan were somehow swept up in a raid, denied legal counsel, moved from facility to facility, never give the opportunity to prove his citizenship, and then shipped off to Sudan?
