They didn’t find a reason, it was thrust upon them by Holland’s ill-judged and terribly worded hyperbole. He’s bears the responsibility for members leaving the Church. When Holland speaks, it’s really not clear how much thinking has been done. It’s not the first stupid thing he’s said in public.MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 5:50 pmPeople will often find reasons to do what they want to do.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 5:32 pmIt’s not opinion. In a more general sense, of course, MG's statement is true: "People will often find reasons to do what they want to do.", or, conversely, people will often find reasons not to do what they don't want to do. Even people who consider themselves to be "faithful".I Have Questions wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 8:08 pmThey didn’t find a reason, it was thrust upon them by Holland’s ill-judged and terribly worded hyperbole. And as the OP noted, sometimes that reason is because they find an organization's rhetoric and culture offensive.malkie wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 10:10 pmIn a more general sense, of course, MG's statement is true: "People will often find reasons to do what they want to do.", or, conversely, people will often find reasons not to do what they don't want to do. Especially when it’s thrust down their throats via a tub thumbing call to arms by one of their leaders.sock puppet wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 10:26 pmAnd as the OP noted, sometimes that reason is because they find an organization's rhetoric and culture offensive.malkie wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 10:10 pm

People want to hear a religious message that sounds Godly, not one of hateful beligerence. Filter the message through the lens of love.sock puppet wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 10:26 pmAnd as the OP noted, sometimes that reason is because they find an organization's rhetoric and culture offensive.
