I doubt it was a war if it's true in the sense that we know war. I personally don't believe it. It's never really sat well with me. Perhaps some spirits may have not wanted to come to earth but then that would imply that we didn't know the plan or the point. I don't know. But humans throughout existence have gone against "god". So who's to say they wouldn't in his presence?
You make a good point, IWMP.

It’s interesting that, with the full knowledge of God, the full knowledge of his plan, the consequences etc. that neither He, nor Jesus could convince a vast swathe of people that sexism and homophobia and racism and allowing child abuse, was the best option. And after all that, 99.8% of the people who did think it was a good plan, have subsequently changed their minds.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

I'm not sure those things are Gods plan. This reminds me of the why does God allow suffering question. Why do we assume that everything negative that happens is what God wants or plans?

I don't think it's a matter of assuming everything negative is what god might want or plan, it's that there is no logical reason to assume positive things are what god wants or plans without making the same assumption about the negative things.

If this life is God’s plan, then everything in it is an aspect that God was aware of prior to launching the plan. He will have been aware that child abuse was likely within the limits of His plan, and He left it in. So He has to be culpable. I think of it like this, if a software manufacturer releases code that he knows contains bugs, is that software manufacturer only responsible for the good things within the software? Of course not. He’s also culpable for the consequences that come from the bugs that he knew were in there prior to release.

That’s the problem. If you believe God can physically intervene in this life, then you have to explain why God chooses not to intervene to prevent child abuse. If you don’t believe God can physically intervene in this life, then you have to accept good things happening are down to luck, chance, coincidence, or human ingenuity, and are nothing to do with anyone abstaining from eating food and making a supplication to God. It’s one or the other.
